Day One
Dear Diary,
My brother Ross had mailed me a newspaper article from 1506. He'd been keeping it well, since he and his archaeology team discovered it in Scotland. I'd never seen any like these. Sure, the witch burning paragraphs were there. Which was common in my line of work to see, but this caught my eye.
PRINCESS BLOODRAYNE UPSHIRE MURDERED!
King Markus and Queen Onai are disturbed by the findings of their fifteen year old daughter dead in her bedroom on the floor. No blood had remained in her body, and none on the carpets either.
Murderer Oscar Ensign is to be hung for crimes against humanity, and will be hung next Wednesday, a week after Princess Bloodrayne had been murdered.I had never been so intrigued in my life, to be honest. Not of course until my wife died of cancer a few years back. I only have Jessica and Ashley. And my brother, Ross, obviously. Jessica is my eldest daughter, she spends most of her time with her phone, unless we go on one of my random de-bunking trips. And my youngest daughter Ashley, is a spitting image of her mother.
She spends most of her time reading old newspapers and going to the library with me. What a curious one she is.Jonathan placed his journal in his rucksack and looked ahead. His brother-in-law, Jared Kingsley (his wife's brother), had volunteered to drive them to Northern Scotland, since the Stanton family lived in Bristol, they'd take a long boat trip from the English mainland to the European mainland, where Jared would meet them with his wife, Emily.
Emily would see her husband and brother-in-law off, along with her nieces, and go home.
And now they were in Dornoch, and Ashley, in excitement, began to jump up and down, with her little rag doll. Jonathan turned to his oldest, "Jess," he called to her. No reply. Jessica's fingers dashed rapidly on her phone screen, and her ear buds blocked the sound of her calling father reaching her ears.
"Jess." He repeated again, this time, stern. Jessica still typed. Jonathan took her phone from Jess's hands, taking the ear buds with it. Jessica looked up from her hands, "Hey!" The thirteen year old pouted and crossed her arms. "Let's go! I'm getting impatient!" Both of their heads turned to the little seven year old with her fluffy Hello Kitty bag on her shoulders, squeezing the rag doll in her arms. "Alright, let's go."
