All you can here is the running feet of a small child. Turning corners and going through doors of this large house. When she turned another corner she saw a switch which she did not hesitate to flip. She turned behind herself aftet hearing a lpud noise, catching a glimpse of a shadow before an iron door came down and glowed a soft yellow light. This glow made the girl feel safe. That is, before she turned around once more. In front of her was dark, but she could see other children clearly. They looked back at her with fear in their eyes as she took a step back, her tail moving cautiously behind her. Knowing in this unknown place, these children might not be what they seem to be.
After a while the children looked away from her and back to each other. Some huddled up together and others looking around as if guarding the ones behind them. The girl's head tilted in confusion before looking out the window. Outside there was no such thing as light. Almost like the light from the bright sun or the glowing night sky was banned from reaching this part of the world. The girl just stared before she turned toward a thud and screams of the children.
A dark mist was slipping under the door at the front. The frightened children was now in a corner, the ones that was on guard trying to put on a brave act. Their expressions showing nothing but fear. Soon the mist formed into something that heightened the girl's fright. A large shadow figure have taken the mist's place. Its red glowing eyes looking straight at the girl. Her abnormal ears flattened against her head as the figure flew past the children and straight toward her. She let out a scream as she ran past this figure. She quickly opened the door and ran outside. The chase continued for hours before she found more children. Without thinking she ran toward them and they looked at her in confusion, putting down their materials.
She went in the middle of the circle of kids, finding it safe. If the monster did not see me, it will go search else where. That is what she thought as she hid. There was nothing for a while, just the sounds of small tools being made and put to the side. The girl picked up a little wooden hammer and examined it before there was a scream. Everyone looked up to see one of them, surrounded by tge black mist above all of them. The child was wiggling like a helpless worm as the shadow figure slowly formed, the child in his hand. The demon like eyes narrowed on the girl as it slowly crushed the child in its hand.
Like frightened mice the kids scattered, leaving everything behind. The girl ran as well, not bothering to look to see if the creature was following. Seeing a open door she ran toward it. Her ears twitching as the sound of slaughtering children followed her. Tears cascaded down her cheeks as she ran inside and slammed the door behind herself. She mumbled apologies under her breath before looking up, her eyes widening at the site in front of her. The smell of blood cosumed the place as corpses of children was scattered everywhere.
Her mouth was agaped but not a sound came out. She slowly looked around, nothing but a horrified look in her eyes. Soon she started to hear her name being called. The voicewas gentle but there was a dark sense to this gentle voice. It became louder as shadows began slipping through the door and surrounding her legs. Unable to let out a sound she began running, her eyes closed when they began to sting. She continued to run until she felt herself falling. Opening her eyes and seeing something under her, coming up fast. She began to scream before silence.
• • •After what seemed like forever, something warm finally coaxed her her eyes open. She looked around tje dark place she fell in. Seeing nothing but a soft glow coming frpm what seem like a glass ball. She slowly got up and limped toward this glow. Not able to push back the curiosity even with her current situation on mind. She stopped a foot from it before slowly reaching out toward it. When she touched it, surprised by the warmth, she quickly drew back her hand. She stood, staring at the ball for what seemed like hours before moving toward the ball again. Cautiously placing her hands on it and lifting it up. The feeling being so warm and welcoming she couldn't help but hold it close to her chest. She wanted to hold onto it forever. Suddenly hearing her name being called again, she turned around to face the creature. Its newly grown claws and new grin making it look more terrifying. The creature slowly madr its way to the girl. She, in time with the creature, took steps back.
Getting impatient the creature flew at her, its clawd ready to tear her tiny limbs apart. Acting on instinct the girl threw the ball at the creatures feet. A blinding light following after the sound of the shattering. A disoriented shriek was heard as she closed her eyes and soon enough, the creature was gone along with the warm light. Slowly opening her eyes, she glanced around herself in confusion but relief. A feeling of safety washed over her, almost causing her to collapse.
What kept her standing was one thought. How can she leave the this dark basement? Looking up the hole she had fallen through, then looked around before taking small limps to the middle of the room. She looked around once more before seeing something surprising. She slowly walked over toward where she sees light, seeping through gaps in between loose wooden planks. She crouched and looked through the gaps before prying the wooden boards off, wanting to get outside and see what is making this light. Succeeding and pulling the wood off, she crawled through the exit she made herself and sat up, looking in awe.
Everything was bathing in the warm light of the very missed sun. The grass had become a healthy green and a few trees had fresh fruits hanging from their thick branches. Everything looked beautiful in this new atmosphere. She was not able to take her eyes away, until she felt something off. Slowly turning around, she saw the terrifying creature which lunged at her before she had a chance to react.
• • •The teen girl shot up in bed, sweating and gripping her bear as if it was a lifeline. The sun peering through her window. She glanced outside to see a bird sitting on her nest, singing a beautiful song. It was just a dream... The girl took a deep breath before letting it out slowly. Thanking God that it was not real. That is, until she heard a familiar voice. Her ears flattened as she heard its soft tone. The light was suddenly blocked, unable to give her a sense of safety. She slowly looked up, terrified. Her heart beginning to race and her breathing erratic. In front of her was the very creature from her dream, grinning at her.
She tried to jump out of her bed but it was quick to hold her down. She struggled amd tried to scream but it was like it ripped the sound right out if her throat. Her tail thrashed as the creature lowered its face to her's and whispered. "Gotcha..."
All you could hear from her room was things falling from her nightstand ajd crying before silence. Sitting up again, her room back to normal, the sun still shining. Her eyes opened, but there horrifying about them. Her eyes now pitch black, nothing but a blood red pupil in its void. Shadows seeming to drift from her eyes as she stared at her wall. The darkness in each ofher corner began to move before rising. All the lights in her room were no longer bright and warm as the shadows took over. There was no longer a glow coming from this young girl. The light the world loved so much, had begun to fall with the sun, never to return. The shadows has arisen._____________________________________
