"Will you stop worrying? jeez" I said as I walked along the oddly quite road. The still might have an eerily feel, making my hair stand on end.
"P... You should have seen how she looked at me today! " One of my best friends, Blake groaned in my ears. "like I was just another idiot jock"
"Blake calm down, I'm sure she thinks no differently of you" I said, readjusting my backpack with one hand pressed the phone against my ear and the other playing with the bag straps."I'm calm"Lie. "everything is fine. Freaking peachy"
"Just..-" I trailed off when my fell on a very ominous shadow of man in fount of me on the pathway.
Blake hadn't noticed my pause and kept rambling on.I found myself, slowing to a halt on the path and turning back around.
"P, are you there? " Blake's deep voice caught my attention.Shaking my head, I glanced back to find the man was gone and relief washed over me.
"Yeah I'm here" I said.
"Good, hurry and get home. My dad said that the supers are back"My stomach turned at his words and I felt my body go cold as if someone stuck a block of ice up my ass.
"How bad would that really be? Not all of them where bad.. " I mumbled.
There was a pause.
I knew how he felt towards the family and he had a legitimate reason to dislike them but I didn't.
I saw my house in the distance and I sighed loudly.
"I'm going to ignore that. " His voice was dry and I knew I struck a nerve. "Text me when you get home".He didn't even wait for a reply before I heard the phone go dead. I pulled my windbreaker closer to my body if that was even possible as I unlocked my backdoor and slipped into my house.
All the lights were off as I crept upstairs to my room, as I closed the door and flicked on the light, I nearly screamed.
The ominous shadowed man I saw earlier was standing in my room, only thing is that now he seemed less creepy. He looked relaxed in the surrounding as he leaned up against the window frame.
"Interesting time to be getting home" The stranger mused, glancing at a tricked out watch on his arm.
I took in his appearance and subconsciously took a step forward. My mouth dropped open.
A super is in my room... But why?His black and gold suit hugged his body in all the right places, his mask was covering a significant amount of his face and only leaving his mouth and strong jawline exposed.
He was tall, about 6ft2.I took another step forward until I was only a few feet away from him. Most people in this town are scared by the supers, me? I'm more amazed by them.
How cool is an entire race of superhumans? The super straightened up when he realized how close I got to him now, fully aware of the fact that I wasn't afraid of him.
"How did you get in here? " I asked.
He gestured towards the open window but my bedroom was on the 3 floor so unless he can fly then it was Alot of effort to break in here.
"Phoenix Torres am I right? "
My eyebrows knotted together.
How did he know my name?
"Public records dear. It isn't that hard" He replied which only earned a more confused expression from me.
He stepped around me, brushing me lightly as he did. "I'm a super remember? "Oh shit, he can read minds?
"Yes I can" He glanced up from my desk as he shifted around some paper as if he was looking for something.
"Why are you here? " I asked, trying to distract myself from his lean, muscular frame.
He didn't answer my question right way instead he sat on my bed, seemingly out of place.
"A proposition"
"For me? "He tiled back his head and I could tell he narrowed his eyes.
"Duh? Why else would I be here? " The super said. "but not yet, when the time comes.. You'll know"."Cryptic much? " I mumbled, sitting across from him on my window seat that faced the ocean. "I didn't get your name"
Standing, he smirked as he turned towards the window.
"That's because I never said it"
And with that he flawlessly jumped out my window.
I rushed over to the window to find that he was gone, disappeared into the night."What the hell was that about? " I whispered to myself.
I looked around the room and nothing seemed to be out of place.
After locking the window and doing a second check of my bedroom, I stripped down and walked into my bathroom.
There was a bright yellow post it stuck on the mirror.'Dear Red Head,
It was a pleasure meeting you tonight...
Keep the beauty and feistiness, it will serve well in the coming days.
