Nothing was more perfect than the present. It was the perfect afternoon - reading books under the embrace of the noon sun. I closed my eyes, relishing the peace, when I heard the door slam and footsteps rushing toward me.
Earla scrambled to me with papers in her hands. Muted panic and distress radiated from her. As soon as she was within distance, she dropped the magazine on my book. Well this was new. I lifted a brow and stared blankly at Earla.
"Have you seen the headlines?" She croaked. A breath cut in between every word.
I looked down.
Where Is the Baby?
I stared at the question and scoffed. "Baby? In their dreams."
Earla face scrunched up at my words. "Your Highness, you know the public has been waiting for an heir for so long. Citizens have been worried that the relationship between Your Highness and the Prince. Since there hasn't been any certain proof that you guys are in love, the treaty is unstable."
"What do they want me to do? Have sex and pop out a small life being when we can't even stand breathing the same air?" I retorted and threw the magazine onto the glass coffee table.
She sighed in defeat and dismissed herself while I continued to read my book. I pushed up my glasses and tossed the book on the floor.
"Ah... Now my mood is ruined."
I searched around my "room" of about two years. It still looked confining with the beige curtains, craving on the ceiling, and intricately designed bed post. I stared the wooden desk crowded with cosmetic supplies and wished I could laser beam that wretched thing into ashes with my eyes. I laid back in my armchair and studied the white walls. I imagined them in a warm yellow, then orange, and sat erect abruptly.
"Trevor! Trevor, I know you are out there! Get me green tea colored paint!" I ordered with a humungous grin on my face.
Wait till the royal asshole sees this.

I grumbled when the paint splattered on my dress. Again. I really should have changed into jeans. On the other hand, while stroking my paint brush side to side, I felt accomplished and pride as finished filling the last remainder of the white atrocity it was before.
I dropped my paintbrush in the can and put my hands on my hips with a ridiculous smile on my face. I twirled around to marvel at my artwork. Green. Green. Green. It looked like someone with a barf cannon went crazy in here.
"What the hell is this?" A voice boomed.
"I thought the room looked dull. What do you think? Good enough for you narcissistic excuse of a human?" I turned around and smirked at the red face of Mr. I'm-Too-Good-For-You.
Before Jerk Face could retaliate, Earla charged in screaming.
"Your Highness Prince and Princess, the press are demanding for your presence. We must hurry."
"What? I can't go out looking like this even though I am perfectly fine with it." I considered. "Oh! Is that your favorite outfit?"
"Yes? Why-" Jerk responded.
"Too bad." I dipped my entire hand in the can of paint and smudged it all over him.
I grabbed his hand and ran out of there to the reception hall where the reporters where waiting. I stopped just in front of the door of the room and let go of his hand. I took in a shaky breath.
"For my people." I whispered.
I stiffly hooked my arm with his and and straightened my spine. The guards pushed open the doors and flashes assaulted us. I scrunched up my eyes before I became used to it, all the meanwhile smiling, We walked together to our seats at the long conference table before the reporters began their bombardment of questions. The prince and I flashed fake looks of in love at each other before smiling at the crowd.
