BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

I wake up and sigh, smacking the snooze button on my alarm. I look at the time, 7:05. I sigh again and stand up, stretching out my arms and yawning. I push my hair out of my face and feel all the knots.

Great, I thought to myself. Time for another day of school. Do I really have to? I get dressed and put my glasses on and check in the mirror to make sure nothing looks weird. I'm wearing a red shirt and jeans along with a black sweatshirt and converse.

I see my hair is a complete mess. I try to brush it but it only becomes extremely frizzy and doesn't cooperate with me, so I just throw it up in a pony tail.

I do all my norms for the morning, brush my teeth, wash my face, take a bath, etc....

After, I grab my book. I stare at the cover for a minute. For some reason, it was really intriguing. Just seeing a pale girl with dark blue eyes, blonde hair, and vibrant red lipstick. It was like she was staring directly at me. I read the words on the cover,"Splintered, by A.G. Howard". I slid my finger across them, the letters were bumps popping out of the cover. I slowly opened the book and began to read the words. Every word I read the more I got lost in the book.

Eventually I felt time passing again. I looked at the clock, It read 7:56. I closed my book slid on my shoes and went outside. I realized my headphones were hanging out if my pocket and and that I had forgot about my phone. I pulled it out and started playing music. I tapped my toes to it as I waited for the bus.

After one song the bus arrived and I walked across the street to get to the other side. I stepped up and looked for a seat on the bus. It was always packed and it was hard to find a seat. I walked slowly towards the back of the bus and tried to scope out a seat. Finally I saw one next to a girl.

"May I sit here?" I asked shyly. She nodded and put her hood up and put her face next to the window. I was pretty sure she was listening to metal because I could hear it through her head phones since she had it up so loud. I looked down at my phone and started scrolling through my instagram. All of a sudden a notification popped up at the top of my phone. Rose texted me.

Hey you still riding the bus?

I stared at my phone for a minute. I was a bit confused because she always sleeps on the bus. Ever since we were little girls she always had.

Yeah, why, what's up?

I just finished drivers training, remember?

I forgot all about that. She recently turned 16 and just got a car. Her parents had a lot of money so they always manage to get some type of way for her to get out of things faster or earlier. I don't know how really, but they do.

Oh yeah, I forgot. Maybe tomorrow you can pick me up?

Yeah, I will. I know how much you hate the bus, lol.

Yeah, I really do, lol. I'll talk to you when I get to school. See ya.

Bye.

I put my phone back down and nodded my head to the beat of the music. I shut my eyes and it was just me. Me, music, and peace. For some reason I felt good. Which is unusual considering I never really feel this relaxed.

All of a sudden I feel the bus stop. I open my eyes and stand up, as did everyone else. I heard the squeak of the doors opening on the bus over the sound of my music. Everyone started filing out as did I. I took out my earbuds, wrapped the, around my phone, and put it into my pocket.

As I was walking into the school I feel a tap on my shoulder. I turned around and saw a big grin across Rose's face. Rose was a beautiful girl. She had long curly blond hair and big brown eyes with thick, full eyelashes. She also had pearly white teeth and a beautiful smile.

"Hey!" she yelled.

"Hi," I said. She wrapped her arms around me and gave me a hug. I swear she could squeeze the life out of me if she wanted to. She was really strong. "I- Can't- breathe," I said in short breathes.

"Oh, sorry," she giggled. We walked down the hallway, Ignoring everything besides each other. We got so deep into conversation until He walked into my sight.

I looked over and saw him. The boy I've had a crush on for years. I hadn't seen him all summer and I started to study him as he walked by. He had a leather jacket on and jeans. His hair was flooded over and had a gel look to it. His jaw line was still perfect and he still kept his pale perfect skin. Listen to me, I sound like a stalker.

I kept studying him until I felt a flick on my forehead,"I didn't think that you would show up especially after what happened last year. Hope I didn't hurt your feeling to badly. Fucking loser..."

I looked down at my feet. That was Becky, the total bitch of the school. I don't know why she still bothers with me or chose to pick on me of all people.

"Ignore her, Scarlet. She's just trash," Rose said to me, trying to lift my spirits.

"Whatever, It doesn't matter," I said. Rose looked at me with concern but I just dismissed it and was silent.

After an awkward moment, the bell rung. I got up and grabbed Rose's hand to help her up. I was walking with her to our lockers and I saw Becky and her group staring at me. I looked at them and immediately looked away.

I got to my locker and I had already parted with Rose and she headed to her class. I got my stuff and headed to my first class. Spanish.

I sat down in my chair and started reading my book again.
