The eerie stillness this morning was dreadful. Sarah, along with all the other kids of the world awoke to the "mass vanishing." Inexplicably, all adults had ceased to exist on earth... and one week before Christmas day...

Sarah woke up to a cold, silent house on December eighteenth. She called out, but it only echoed in the frigid house. Then suddenly, the doorbell disrupted the stillness. She rushed to the door and hesitantly opened it. There, shivering in the snow was Emily, Sarah's friend from across the street. "Are your parents gone too?" "Y-yes," Emily replied. After shutting the door and sitting down they tried to figure out what to do. Sarah gathered food and water and put it in her cheer bag. She also got a bat, just in case. Suddenly Sarah froze. "Sarah?" Emily whimpered. "Leo... LEO!"

Sarah bolted out the door to Leo's house. She rattled the door ferociously, but it didn't budge. She then grabbed her cheer bag and threw it through the window. She leaped through the shattered window ignoring the shards of glass sticking out. The pair searched the house for Leo, soon they heard sniffling. They walked upstairs, looking in every room. They looked in a small room, in there was a small boy with tears dried on his face. "Leo!" Sarah exclaimed. She rushed over and hugged him. "Where are mummy and daddy?" "I'm- I'm not sure." Sarah stood up and looked at Leo. She picked him up and started walking out. "Where are we going to go?" Emily asked. "Somewhere warm." They left the house, with Leo holding Sarah's hand.
