"Don't touch the fire if you dont want to get burned. Don't come too close when you dont want to get involved."

"Weird disappearances?" I asked Topher as we settled in our couch. It's been three months since our last assignment. And we were finally granted a three months break for working two years non stop. After being in Quantico and being the top agent, I decided to follow my father's doorstep and end up being a cop but I was too good at deducing and solving mysteries that they decided to make me a detective. Topher, is working in CSI, he's a doctor and he is a forensic pathologist who also underwent military training.

Together we were undisputed. And to think we are getting married next month. I smiled at the thought of finally tying up the knot with the only man I love. He was my first and only boyfriend I had. After the accident I was in, 10 years ago.. I never thought I'd be this happy as I am now. My father, once a Sherif in a small town and my mother a lawyer. Now we reside in New York city.

"Yep, heard its been going on for years now. But nobody ever paid attention. Some speculated, whoever is behind this is someone with power over the authorities. And whoever or whatever is doing this knows what they're doing. It's clean." Topher replied while placing the documents of the missing people. The total number was astonishing.. How come they never had any news this was happening.

The victims doesnt match up too. The killer or killers take everyone.. no distinct description. He or she or they take men.. women.. any race.. any age.. Topher laid out the map of the whole United states which had red dots on some places.

"A family who were camping in North Carolina disappeared, no sign of resistance. No sign that the victims tried to fight whoever took them. The tents are clean. Spotless. All their belongings are in place." Topher explained as he pointed one of the dots.
"A month passed, a whole bunch of friends hiking went missing. Same scenario. No sign of anything. Then there's the missing flower shop owner. Last seen walking out of her shop. The cameras on the street are turned off too. The police tried to hack whoever did it but it only lead them to a black whole."

This was intriguing, the crimes are so amazingly executed. This was a smart criminal. "If this has been happening for a while now, how come they'd just opened it up to us?" I asked.

"Unfortunately, he took someone who's father matters in the society. The daughter of a rich businessman. Carrie Mitchell is the girls name." Topher handed her a picture of a blonde pretty lady. 20 years old and studying in Harvard. Missing for about a month now.

I closed my eyes and rubbed my temple, they were still in their vacation but now this will cut it off. I wanted to do it but I knew I had to still do some stuff for my upcoming wedding. But I want this case, there were a lot of loop holes and it was so intriguing. It was luring me.. mocking me..  And she was like a moth into a flame, she know she'll probably burn but the pulling power the fire had in her made her do it otherwise.

"Are all the files in? Let me take a look at them then let's see where we can start." Topher nodded and gave me a whole box filled with the files, reports, and all the things recorded.

"It's getting late though, you have to sleep. You've been having sleepless nights again."

I nodded. "I'll have a run with these then I'll be at the bedroom." I walked to my office carrying the box with me. I've been taking a lot of sleeping pills all my life. I never had that night whete I just can sleep naturally out of my own accord.
