Chapter 1

Brooke POV

"Mom! I'm heading off to school!" I shout through our apartment. A groan comes from my moms room. Maki meets me at the door. " How's your mom, Brookie?" She asks. I give her a look, and she shuts up. We start up the sidewalk to school. I see three boys ahead of us. Chase Morgan, Gus Long and some new guy I've never see before. I'm gonna come right it and say it. He was definitely my type. He had long hazel hair that hung in his eyes. His emerald green eyes were big and innocent. He held my favorite book, Romeo and Juliet in his hands. " Woah! You like him don't you!" Maki said. I blushed. Like, a lot. Because I did. And I didn't even know his name. Chase and Gus started pushing him around. "Book geek." Chase laughed. Gus pushed him down, hard. He hit his head and it started to bleed. I started sprinting towards him. "Move!" I shouted. I kneeled over the stranger, staring into his eyes. I choked on my words, as he smiled, a shy smile at me. I smile back an reached out my hand. He took it. His hand was warm and welcoming. And that was the first time I ever held Mason David's hand.
