I let the cool water run over my skin. A raindrop fell on my cheek as I brushed away my tears.

Crying won't help anything, I told myself over and over again.

But my salty tears mixed with the fresh rain and I continued to walk. The pavement got darker as the water ran through it's cracks. A store clerk opened his shop door and turned the open sign to closed. I saw a mother holding her child's hand tightly as they hurry to get to their vehicle.

The grey sky seemed to be frowning at me and I held my breath. The oxygen deprivation made my head swirl. I shudder as a cool breeze blows through my thin sweater.

"Miss? Are you okay?"

I whip my head around when I hear the voice. There stands an older looking man, maybe in his forties. His left hand is holding an umbrella while his right is holding a grocery bag.

"Yes, sir. Just admiring the clouds," I say with a fake smile.

I begin to walk again. Just a few more blocks. You can do it. I watch my feet move on their own accord.

I walk until I am met face to face with a very familiar cream colored front door. The same cream colored door that my eyes bored into only months before. The same door that I couldn't seem to ever get comfortable with.

It was his door. That's why.

This is a really short chapter. It's just a starter but I will make them longer as the story progresses. I promise.
