It was two in the afternoon before Caspian woke up the next day, and it wasn't to the sound of birds. Someone was knocking-no, banging- on his door. Cas groaned into his pillow and pulled his comforter over his head, hoping whoever it was would just go away. Sadly, that didn't work since they were still insistently pounding a few moments later.

He sighed and pulled himself out of bed sliding a pair of flannel pajama pants on, not bothering with his binder or a baggier shirt. He had a feeling he knew who was as the door.

Caspian made his way to his front door and flung it open. Just as he expected, his best friend, Huey, greeted him with a grin.

"Cas, holy shit," Huey said pushing into the apartment. Caspian didn't object. He was too tired. "Are you just waking up?" Huey asked him.

"If you had the night I had," Cas said, his voice still thick with sleep. "You too would be angry at the interruption of your sleep cycle." He shut the door behind him and locked it. Locking doors behind him was somewhat of a security habit.

Huey collapsed onto his couch and Cas dropped beside him pulling a throw blanket over his legs and curling into his designated corner of the couch. "What time did you get home last night?" Huey asked him. Caspian had unconsciously closed his eyes, but answered him with a shrug.

"Probably around six," he said.

"In the morning?!" Huey said, obviously surprised. Knowing him, Huey probably was home and in bed by eleven and probably slept until noon. Cas chuckled and nodded. "I'm so sorry, man. I'll leave if you want. Or you can just go back to bed I'll just hang out."

Caspian shook his head and opened his eyes. "Why are you here anyway?" he questioned. Huey just shrugged. He got lonely, that was the reason and Cas knew that. He just wanted to see what Huey would say. "It's okay to admit you were missing me," Caspian teased.

Huey laughed and said, "Yeah that was definitely it. I actually can't live without you." Cas smiled and nudged Huey affectionately with his foot.

"Yeah I know," he said. At that moment he heard the distant sound of his phone vibrating. He left his cell next to his bed and got up to retrieve it. He brought it back into the living room only to find several texts from his brother.

"Omg I heard you got promoted congrats

Oh shit your probably sleeping

Whoops

Love u

Sweet dreams"

Those were all sent at reasonable hours of the morning, but the most recent was,

"Cas for real it's time to get up

Answer me bitch

I'm sorry I love you

I'm not sorry at all man come on I'm bored"

Caspian rolled his eyes and sent a single text back to him. "Fuck you". Rhys texted back moments later with a wink emoji and Cas tossed his phone at his feet. Huey looked at him questioningly.

"My brother wants to talk," he explained.

"Then talk to him," Huey said. Cas only shrugged.

"I'm tired," Caspian said. "I will in a few minutes. He'll live." He pulled the blanket up to his chin and sunk back into his couch.

"So..." Huey said somewhat cautiously. "You had another job last night?" he asked. Caspian didn't answer for a moment. It was a complete accident that Huey found out what he did for a living.
