Hi guys,
A very random story popped into my head this morning. And I wouldn't rest till I wrote it down. It might seem too short, too silly. Please do give it a try, vote and comment. Happy weekend!
"Pata nahi use kaisa lagega. Badi mushkil se hum dono ka rishta sudhra tha. Ab.."
Her thoughts were interrupted by the typical knock on her window.
"Shravan! Tum yahan? Itni raat ko! Sab theek toh hai na? Ghar pe kuch hua toh nahi? Bhook lagi hai? Khana khaya?" Shravan let out a chuckle at her volley of questions.
"Pehle andar toh aane do madam"
Suman gave him a sheepish smile as she lifted up the lower sash of the window. Shravan swiftly hopped into her room.
"So?" She gave him a quizzing look.
"I've got great news for you!"
Suman was not interested in anything at the moment, at least she pretended well. She wondered if he would be able to accept what she had decided to do with her life.
"I'm shifting base to India. Got everything settled with Eric. I'll have to go back to London for a few days, one last time though." The joy he felt while he narrated his plans animatedly was however not reflected on her face. In fact, what he saw was dejection, that of not being able to celebrate his happiness.
Suman let out a mopey sigh before she put an envelope into his hand and slipped into bed, laying on her back and pulling the blanket onto herself.
A highly confused Shravan opened the envelope only to find himself, numb.
Dear Ms.Tiwari,
We are pleased to inform you that you have been appointed as the Assistant Head Chef at Delizioso Grand, Mumbai. Your remuneration and flight tickets have been enclosed. We are looking forward to welcome you aboard.
Suman Tiwari. Delhi to Mumbai. 9W ****. 20 December 2017. 1800 hours.
"You can't leave me!" He screamed in rage, making Suman peek out from under the blanket.
"I'm sorry" was all she could whisper, before covering herself up again.
Shravan took quick steps to her bed and brought himself down, sitting next to her face, while he gently pulled her blanket away so he could see her.
"Sab theek tha na? Kya ho gaya Sumo? Mujhse koi galti ho gayi kya?
She turned in bed to face him. "Main thak gayi hoon Shravan, sabpe bojh ban bankar. Nanu pe, Mama Mami pe, aur... tum pe."
Shravan gave her a glare. "Accha mauka hai mujhse peecha chudane ka."
"Nahi Shravan, accha mauka hai kuch kar dikhane ka" she could no longer look into his lovely eyes, that reflected something she had always wanted to see. "Could he?" She wondered.
Shravan didn't realise what got into him. He forcefully took her face in his hands, looking straight into her eyes and bringing himself closer to her in the process. "Look Suman Tiwari! I have come here to tell you that I have quit everything back in London, so I could set everything right, and here you say you want to go away, forever. What do you take me for Sumo, huh?"
She sniffed quietly, tears threatening to spill from her eyes. Shravan's heart melted instantaneously at the sight, and he did what felt right at the moment. Leaning closer to her face, he planted a gentle kiss on her left cheek, causing her eyes to fling open. She sprang up in bed, sitting cross-legged. Shravan perched himself beside her, taking her hands in his.
"Sumo, you are a certified dimwit. Jaanti ho na?"
"If you're moving to Mumbai, so will I. You may be adamant about going away. But you're forgetting that it's Shravan Swag Malhotra you're dealing with. Don't you know me? I'm adamant too."
When she continued gaping at him in amazement, he took a deep breath "About you. Pushkar can manage the firm here. I'll start from scratch."
"Why Shravan?"
"A decade is a long long time. Let's just say I want to make up for the time lost with my best friend, or should I say the love of my life."
Shravan didn't miss the blush that crept into her cheeks. To say she was overwhelmed with his subtle proclamation of love would be an understatement.
"Not this time. I can't let you go."
That's all folks. Hope that was a decent attempt.
P.S. I would like to apologize to those who tried contacting me on DM. I somehow never received any notifications on my phone :( So sorry.
Love,
Nuts
