Second part of Chapter 1: First Day
Nessies face changed to happy to confused as she saw my horrified expression. I dropped my drink in the trash can without even touching it. I ran out screaming at the top of my lungs in my head. When I was safely inside my car, I started to breathe in and out very deeply, trying to calm myself. The next thing I knew I was drastically crying, my head on the steering wheel. God, I should have never come here! Its not that I'm scared of them, trust me I'm not. It's that I hate them! They shouldn't exist!
"Urgh!" I screamed in between clenched teeth, tears streaming down my face.
When the students started to fill the outside hallway I climbed out of my car. I checked my face in my rearview mirror to see if there were any signs of my huge melt down. I quickly got over not wanting to think about it any longer. I had gym next; I clearly wasn't in any mood to run around with a ball.
My gym teacher, Mr. Burn said I didn't have to do anything today, because it was my first day. I nodded and moped to the bleachers. My mind was blank, I think a tear or two fell, but I hid it quickly.
As I got out of class I saw one the vampires that sat at Nessies table. She was pixie like. I stared for a second, and then looked away quickly when she returned my stare. From the corner of my eye, I saw that she was still staring.
It was very annoying instead of embarrassing. Finally, she turned her head and danced off to class, meeting another vampire to guide her there.
The one class I had left was miserable due to Nessie. She was staring at me, waiting for me to speak to her. I could tell she really wanted to talk to me, but I was not up for it.
The final bell rang and I was grateful to get out of school. I had to get outside and feel the cool breeze on my skin. I went to my car quickly, right after calming down. As I got into the car she walked over and gave me a vicious glare. I wasn't having it, especially after today. I got out of the car.
"What is your problem...Huh? What do you want from me?!" My voice cracked at the end.
Renesmee smiled and said "I knew I'd get your attention."
I was so annoyed but at the same time not wanting to. Why did she have to have the kindest face?
"What do you want?" I repeated
"I just want to talk"
"About what" I said as harshly as I could.
She hesitated, probably not sure how to begin.
"How do you know were vampires?" She whispered. I hadn't expected that, I was taken aback by her question. How did she know I knew that they were vampires? And why did she include herself in that category? Who would want to?
"We're?" I asked.
"Uhh. Yes I am one too." She said it as if it was obvious.
"But your eyes..." I couldn't even finish the sentence.
"Oh, I'm half human." She said cheerfully.
I stared at her for a second, wondering how could that be. I hesitated then tuned around, disgusted.
"Wait!" she pleaded
I kept walking; I didn't want to talk to a filthy vampire.
"Why are you so scared of us? Don't you know we only hunt animals?" She said quietly, I was able to hear her, she was catching up. I pushed my legs faster. Suddenly she caught the hood of the back of my coat. I turned to give her a scowl, and she suddenly let go.
"Look, first, I am not scared of you. Second, I know you and your 'friends' only hunt animals, but I know better than to trust your kind!" I hissed at her.
I saw a flash of movement behind her. It was a vampire, glaring at me. I glared back at her. I turned back at Nessie.
She ignored my charade.
"How do you know about vampires?" she pressed.
I sighed a heavy sigh. "Long story." I hissed, afraid to think of it for the second time today.
"I have time. But if you don't want to talk about it, that's fine." She suppressed a smile.
"No, I don't want to talk about it." I said through my teeth, gritting them just as much. When I saw she wouldn't say anymore, I stalked off. To desperate to get in my car, I tripped on my way there.
"Are you okay?" she asked hesitantly.
"I'm fine."
Before I could turn, "Will you please tell me how you know?"
Will she ever let this go? Behind her, I could see her 'vampire friends.' They all had different expressions on their faces. Some were curious, happy, or mad. I looked back at the kind, half human half vampires face. Suddenly I didn't feel that anger towards her or the vampires, just curiosity. And I had no idea why.
"Okay, fine, but not here."
She smiled a friendly smile.
"Where then?"
I thought it over. I wouldn't bring her to my house, of course not; I wouldn't put Sarah in that kind of danger. I thought of a place were there were no secrets of vampires.
"How about your house?"
What the hell am I doing?!
