Inspiration

Recently, I read the book, A Princess of Mars by Edgar Rice Burroughs. It was the first in a series called Barsoom. This book follows the journey of a confederate army veteran named John Carter, living in Virginia, who was transported to Mars from Arizona.

I was inspired by it: it's style and everything. It had no dialogues in the beginning and some few later in the book. It was more of a narration.

So, I decided to create a book like it, since I am not good at creating dialogues, and I added a fantasy element on it, since I write more of fantasy than science fiction.

About this book

This book is first of The Unearthly Series. The others, I will call it "Unearthly Melodies" and "Unearthly Destinies." This was originally entitled Unearthly Encounters but since I decided to have a rhyme on the title so I have come up with Memories.

Plot Summary

This book, Unearthly Memories, will follow the journey of Bridget Izentod, a young girl whose heart were literally broken and damaged living on a mansion with her family, on a place known as Underland. She has a Congenital Heart Defect. It was too risky for her to move so much for it can be the cause of her death.

Underland is a realm in hyperspace, which is ruled by a dark wicked witch. Staying there for 1 complete Underland day is roughly about 27 minutes 56 seconds 7 centiseconds 2 deciseconds and 9 milliseconds or roughly 27.68 earth minutes (compute it and let's see  if I am correct hahaha). It has two moons, which were very bright, unlike one here beside earth. In this land, Bridget will meet a living scarecrow, crows and a strange-looking cat.

Unknown to her, there is a secret behind those crows, the scarecrow, the cat and the one of the moons. She will embark on a journey and she will discover the shocking truth.

Wanna find out the secret about Underland? Read this book. I don't wanna spoil anything from it. I'll just let you read it and know what happens.

Writing

I started writing on May 15. I posted the first chapter on May 16. I wrote the second chapter on May 16 and I edited both the first and second chapter on 16 and 17. I posted the 2nd revision of 1 and 2 on May 18. On 19 and 20, I am writing 3 and 4.

Ideas

I've got anything under planned for this book. All my ideas in my head and I'll just need to write it down and then post this for you, readers to read and enjoy it. This was unlike most of the Fantasy stories which had and has dialogues on them. I am bad at creating dialogues for my characters, which just made me look worse.

This will have lengthy paragraphs. I like long and descriptive paragraphs, especially it it is so nice and easy to read.

Narrative Mode

I really had a hard time writing this story since I don't write in First person/Second person. Normally, I write in Third Person, Third person Limited, which was really easy. Really easy to write for I know every character's action.

In First person, I only limit on what my POV character sees, feels, tastes, sees, smells and character's actions, emotions and what she feels inside her body. An author can't write what other character feels if she/he is writing First person..

Originally, this was intended to be Second person for my intentional main character was the Scarecrow. Then, during writing, I felt that Bridget was more important since the story is written in her viewpoint.

Imagery

Imagery is how the author's use of senses in order for the readers to understand and empathize with the character. Here, I have put a lot. A lot.

Figures of Speech

I really love figures of speech, specially Simile. For me, simile is the most used figure of speech ever. It was so easy to understand. There's a lot of Simile in this story(es). You can also see others in this story but rare.

Main Characters:

I wanted to put few characters on this story and I come up with these:

Bridget Izentod: A girl with a damaged heart who is transported to Underland magically.

The Scarecrow: Alive creepy scarecrow whom Bridget will have a journey with.

The Wicked Witch of Beatrix: The main Antagonist of the Story.

The Cat: Bridget finds a cat on the Forest when she came to the Underland.

Setting

This story takes place in two places, Izentod Mansion and on Underland. Izentod Mansion will not contribute a lot to the story while Underland is the main setting for the story. Everything important happens here. Everything you must know is here.

Atmosphere

The atmosphere in this story is dark and gloomy. Creepy!

That's all! You can now proceed on reading.
