Net Neutrality

"The internet — as we know it — is likely to die Thursday at the hands of the administration. What's more, we'll be expected to pay for the burial.

Net neutrality compels internet service providers to treat all traffic, websites, and content on their networks equally. Without that rule, cable and phone companies can dice up the internet into fast and slow lanes, and charge companies for speedier online access and exposure.

Those that can't, or won't, pony up such fees are courting trouble. Their sites could be blocked, slowed down or even obscured from view, according to the Illinois watchdog group Citizens Utility Board and other critics.

Popular and expanding content providers, such as Netflix or Amazon, are expected to get hit with additional fees once net neutrality is lifted. Count on these price hikes being quickly passed on to millions of people viewing or purchasing goods online.

I don't buy it.

The internet is a model of democracy.

Damn I miss Obama

But please to preserve our ability to access whatever website we would like without government control over it. So, in simple terms, if this is put in place by the government, we can't access some sites without paying for it because it is not "favored". +

So please join the fight against net neutrality and sign this petition.
