“I can't believe you guys have to live with this. She's such a fake!” I couldn't identify the speaker as I was only just starting to come out of the sleep I'd fallen in after the Ouija event.
“She's not a fake, Brit. She's just going through some ... weird ... unexplainable stuff.” This was Alexanne and it touched me that she was taking my side against her friend.
“Oh bull! What's this crap about Tammy Rose? Or her hand being stuck? And what was that you said earlier, some ghost haunting her?” Brittany exclaimed and hit a hard surface – I took a wild guess that I was back home in one of our rooms. “Fake I say. Attention seeker.”
“Brit, I think it's time for you to go now.” Jay spoke quietly as a weight – probably his – shifted the bed on which I lay.
“I'm Alexanne's guest. You don't choose when I leave.” she replied.
“I agree with Jay. You're being unnecessarily mean...” Alexanne whispered.
I heard Brittany gasp but before she could say something, Tanya cut in. “You know Brit, I thought that if you left your old click you'd change but seems like you're just as sour as you were before.”
“Oh please, you're really going to replace me with this ... this freak?” Brittany answered and I felt something hit my shoulder.
“GET OUT NOW!!” Alexanne yelled. I jumped in surprise and everyone turned to look at me.
Everyone seemed to have different reactions to the current situation. Jay had the most caring look on his face as he pushed me down back on the bed. Hayley sat in a corner of the room, looking sad and a litte bit afraid. Tanya, Alexanne and Brittany held the most similar features: anger and disbelief.
“Fine.” Brittany muttered as she left the room, slamming the door behind her. We listened to her angry footsteps as they made their way to the stairs and down. Her final departure was accompanied by another door slam.
“How much did you hear?” Tanya dared to ask me.
I thought it through for a moment. “Too much.” I answered with a slight grin, trying to ease the mood.
“Don't worry, you're not a freak. At least, not to us.” Hayley spoke as she stood and came to join me on the bed.
“Sorry about Brit. She's not the most open minded person in the world but she'll get over herself and no harm will be done.” Tanya explained as she lounged comfortable in the beanbag chair. “So, before you ask – you fainted, we brought you back, your lovely siblings explained everything starting at the hospital when you woke up.”
I nodded slowly and looked around. It was heart-warming to see that my circle of supporters was growing like this. I didn't have time to enjoy watching my supporters for very long before Keven opened the door and came in with a laptop on his arm.
“Okay, okay. Listen to this. You won't believe what I came up with.” he looked up from the screen and grinned excitedly. He placed the laptop on the corner of the desk where we could all see the screen and started explaining what we were looking at. “Luckily – or unluckily, however you want to see it – Tammy Rose is not a very popular name. So only a few hits came up when I researched the name. Weird thing is... they're all dead.” he looked at us as he showed us the necrologie page with the pictures, names, birth and deaths of the various Tammy Rose he'd found. “But, by now I'm totally getting used to the weirdness surrounding Emma.” the smile he gave me was so kind and affectionate that I couldn't resist returning the smile. Yep, I had one awesome group of supporters through this wacko hell.
