It was the last school day of October - the thirty-first.
All of the boys and girls of Wenten Middle school and Kenton Elementary school were hyped for the night.
I, Robin Atwood, am a residence at Wenten Middle school.
The day was like any ordinary school day.
First math; then came social studies; then ELA; gym; and lunch - my  favorite!; health; science;  and finally, ELA II. Of course, fourth period and eighth period change tomorrow. But I was in science class at the moment.
The bell rang, and we were dismissed from the class.
I started walking to ELA II, and my friend, Daniel Spenz - whom I may have the tiniest bit of a crush on - ran up to me.
        "Hey Rob!" he says.
"I told you I didn't like that name Dan.." I reply back. "It's a guy's name, and I'm the opposite gender."
        "Everyone calls me Dan though.."
"Because 'Dan' is still a guy's name. It's a shortened version of your name."
        "Okay okay. You outsmarted me."
"Good. What do you think we're doing in ELA II today?" I ask, as we walk into the classroom together.
        "Reading something? I don't know."
"Usually you do.." I say, and thought, Weird. He usually knows these things. Eh, could be nothing.
We sat next to each other, our normal assigned seats.
But something seemed... off.. The classroom wasn't as full as it usually was.
"Hey.. Dan?.." I turned towards him.
        "Yeah?"
"Don't you think... it's kinda weird that there's only like ten or eleven people in the classroom today?"
        "Maybe they're all just absent?"
"This isn't just a coincidence! Today's October thirty-first! Halloween! This is some freaky stuff..."
       "I don't know, then, Robin."
"Where the heck is the teacher? There is no sub either!"
I looked around the room. Everyone else was freaking out too.
"They're all stupid.. Don't they know about 'Stranger Things About Life'? It's pretty darn obvious what's happening." I hear Dan mutter.
"Dan! What do you mean about that?!"
"Uh what? I didn't say anything."
"You muttered. Stop pretending like you don't know what I'm talking about!"
"I honestly don't know what you're talking about."
     "Dan!"
"That's my name. Don't wear it out."
"I'm being serious! Tell me what you mean! You're all fine except when I mention something strange, you freak out! What's going on? Why is everyone panicking?"
"You should know about this type of stuff Robin. Ever since you came here. You were so 'into the outer world' and 'what's beyond the planets and solar system'. What happened to that? What happened to that darn thing? Where is the Robin I know? ...Did... did they get to you?"
"Who the heck is 'they'? What do you mean?"
"Aliens." He whispered. "Ever since you came to this school, weird things have been happening. You're becoming smarter faster than we have been. You know things not even adults know."
"I... I guess you're right, Dan. But do you have an explanation for all that?" I ask.
"The fact I know you. are. an. alien?" He whispers.
    "What! No! I'm not!-"
"An alien? I doubt it. I know you're my best friend and all, but look, even best friends don't know things about each other and choose to keep them a secret."
"I am not an alien, Dan."
"Yes you are. Give me your hand and I'll show you!"
     The last bell rang.
"I'll see you later, Dan. It's time to go home." I say, and stand up, walking calmly out the classroom door.
"Robin! Come back!" I hear Dan say loudly, not enough to be yelling but to be loud.
I didn't turn around. I kept walking forward. Kids stayed behind me of all grades, letting me go first. They usually plow right through me. Did they hear my conversation with Dan..? Oh shoot .
"Why aren't you guys plowing right through me? What am I now? I'm not some being from another planet or something. So just plow right through me like any other day."
None of them answered, just letting me go first. "Somebody answer me! When nobody answers me, it feels like I'm alone in this world!"
"I told them what you are. So you have to tell the truth here and now. You aren't leaving until you do." Dan says from somewhere in the crowd.
"What exactly is stopping me? What exactly is stopping me from leaving?" I ask, as he makes his way towards the front.
"Our friendship," he says. "Let me ask this,"
I don't respond, but I could tell he was right behind me.
"Robin. What if I asked you something you would love to hear?"
"I don't want to hear anything from the guy who thinks I'm an alien."
"Really? I thought you would've wanted to go out sometime."
Here's the thing. Daniel Spenz is the "popular" kid in Wenten middle school, so basically all the girls are after him. Even me unfortunately. All of the girls wish to date him or at least even be friends with him. But I got the better luck. He's my BEST FRIEND and potential lover. His friends have told me that he possibly has.. feelings.. for me. All the other girls pushed me around, basically screaming at me to get away from him. I couldn't, I am his best friend, and he cares for my safety.
"So? What do you say? The truth for a date?" he asks.
"Sorry, thanks, but no thanks. I have to get home before my mom starts worrying about me."
"You mean your 'mom'?" He asks. "We all know the truth; we're just waiting for you to say the truth too."
      "..I am not an alien."
"You keep saying that, and the more you do, the less I believe you."
I move past Dan. I'm not in the mood. I opened the door, being blinded with the light. I put my hand just above my eyes so I could see. I start walking home. I look towards the woods - my only way home.
I walk into the woods, and I get thrown against a tree almost immediately. I look towards the direction I got thrown from.
I hear chuckling. "Well well well." I hear from beyond the tree-line.
I look towards the sky. It was getting dark. "Shoot." I whisper.
"Looks like your "friends" found out your little secret, Robin Atwood."
"No they didn't now leave me alone!" I say, trying to get away from the tree but I couldn't. He was.. nowhere near me.. Telekinesis?! No no no no! I might never get home now..
"Looks like little Robin can't get home now.."
I flinched. He could be loud when he wanted to. His power is greater than mine. I can do this.. I can beat him for good. He can feed off of scared people. Sure, once he's fought, he turns weak but he can gain strength once again.
There's people behind him and I. They're scared. He feeds off of their fear to grow stronger...
I look down. If anyone is there.. Please... help me.. I'm scared but I don't show it. I don't want him to grow stronger.
I hear footsteps that no human ears could hear. "Chazz, well done, it seems like you've caught one of the extinct kind.."
"Astenthea, you.. you dirty rotten son of a gun.." I say, holding the invisible hand that's wrapped around my neck.
"If it isn't little Robin Atwood.. Nice to see an... old 'friend' isn't it?" Astenthea says.
"Back off Astenthea! My family!-"
"Is dead, Robin. Your family is dead."
     "What..? No.."
"Believe it or not, they are dead."
"My mom... She.. she always knew what was right.. My little sister... she was annoying yeah, but she was adorable nonetheless..." I say. I try to hold back tears, since that was exactly what Chazz and Astenthea wanted. They want me to let it all go. From the past few months that I've been here, they were nice ones. I'm sorry to everyone who I held back, just because I was new. Just because some people cared for humanity, what does that make me to them? They don't know who the heck I am. But that didn't stop them. It didn't stop them at all. They don't care who I am. All they care about was that I was human to them. "No! I refuse to believe my family is dead! My family despised you, and I still do! Get away from me Astenthea, Chazz! I need nothing of your presence."
Chazz and Astenthea looked shocked, which made Chazz let loose of his grip on my throat. I took off running towards my school. Please still be there Dan.. Please please please...
I got to the school. The place looked empty. "I just left not even ten minutes ago... Where are they all?" I ask, and walk into the building. I heard footsteps. "What the heck!?"
"Wait, Robin? Robin is that you?" I heard, from one of the classrooms. I then hear whispering. "Hello?"
I walk to the classroom, and I'm greeted with four or five people, one including Dan. "Dan! Oh my God are you okay?" I ask, running up to him.
"I'm okay. Don't worry. What the heck happened? A few minutes after you left, two people burst into the building! Us five ran into this classroom and shut the door, locking it. Everyone else... I don't know. They either were probably brutally murdered, or ran away like we did. The two people looked a little older than us, and they looked like they had very advanced weapons.."
"Dan, long story short, those two people hate my guts, and want me dead. I don't know why, but they do. My family has hated their family for centuries! But what I'm saying is that, if you follow me, and to anyone else here, you'll be safe from them! As long as I'm in a six foot and lower range from you, you'll be safe! Please!"
"What are you?" He asked. "Are you even human, Robin? Did you think you could come to this world, and fool us? Acting like you're human and in reality, you aren't? Is that what you thought?"
"Dan, now isn't the time. Please, I'll explain on our way just please!" I say, taking his hand. "Please just follow me! I didn't want anyone to get hurt because of me!"
He looked back at the other four. He looked back at me. He sighed. "Okay, only if you explain on our way."
"I will! Please, follow me!" I say, and start walking out the classroom door, Dan and the other four following me.
Ominous feeling. I don't know whether or not Dan and the other four could feel it, but I could. "It isn't that much farther! I promise I'll get you to safety!"
"Robin, what's going on?" I hear Dan ask, "You said you'd explain."
I stop running.I turn to look at Daniel   "Yeah Robin Atwood.. You said you'd explain to them.. Share your little secret.. Help us take this world over.. Wipe out humanity with it.." I hear.
I turn 360 degrees. Nothing. Not one movement. Then it all happened at once. I get thrown way back into the woods, hitting a tree. "Robin!" I heard someone yelling. I stand up, feeling my head. I take away my hand. Blood. I take a deep breath, and it hurt. It hurt to keep breathing.
"Little Robin Atwood.. So foolish to even think you could pass as a human.. To think we'd never find you.. But you're wrong. Completely wrong. We have found you. We know your secret, and you'd do anything to keep it.. I mean.. we have your mother.. sister.." I start running. I start running to where I had left Dan and the other four kids. "The one you love.. To think! Us aliens can't love a human the same way we love other aliens.." I stop. I stopped completely.
"Don't you dare hurt him!" I turn to Chazz and Astenthea. Chazz was gripping Dan's collar. He was struggling. Struggling against the invisible hand gripping his shirt. I could just stare. Nothing more, nothing less.
"What'll you do for us, if we let him go?" Chazz asked. I just stood there, silent.
"I'll let you take me. Take me away from Earth. I don't belong here, and the air is too thick.."
Chazz gave me a look that said, 'Really? You'll do that?'
I nodded. "Please just let him go.."
The invisible hand dropped Daniel to the ground, and he landed on his feet. He looked up, and ran over to where I stood. His arms wrapped around my waist. He was hugging me.. "Please don't leave.. I don't want them to take you.. I don't want them to take you away because of me.. I went looking for you.. I should've waited.." He whispered.
He was crying, almost sobbing.. "Robin, please.. find a way back to me.. I.. I love you.. I don't care what you are.. Take me with you.. Please.." I couldn't move. Getting back to Earth was hard, but I couldn't nor could I tell him that. I hugged him back.
"All I can do is try, Dan. I've known you only this year, and I.. I love you too.." I felt him hug me tighter.
All of a sudden, I was pulled away. "Let's go. They're waiting, and I don't think they'll keep waiting." Chazz says, and starts pulling me towards their spaceship, deep in the woods.
I look around myself, deep in thought. What would my mom have told me to do, if it was her instead of Daniel? She would have said the same things he had said. What would I have said back? Almost the same thing. WOuld I have saved any regular person? No. I wouldn't have. Mom and Daniel are special people. To me anyhow. I can't have anyone taken away, and possibly killed. Due to me being here. Will my Mom come rescue me? Will she come with Daniel? I don't know. I honestly don't know this time around. I then look down, and start to cry. I didn't let Chazz and Astenthea hear me of course, because then they'll torture me. They'll keep torturing me until I break, snap, or die. I don't know if I'll die. I don't know if I'll live. But what I do know, is that whatever happens, I'll get back to Daniel.
