Chapter16-The ComeBack
July 25th, 2012
It’s now July. There hasn’t been any word on 7th Anthem. No updates on their upcoming album, no news about their TV series. They kept a very low profile after Justin returned to the band. There had been a few sightings of the members, but nothing major. The only big sighting was Libby with her fiancé Jason. But that’s it.
In the meantime, their rivals had been filling the big 7A hole. The Extras have now matched their success. Their newest album has sold very well worldwide. They have hit singles in America. Now they’re about to embark on their own world tour.
At the same time, The OutLaws had been varying amount of successes. Now they’re about to release their third album. After they finished performing on a TV show, they went to their dressing room.
As they were walking, they were met up with their publicist. She said to them, “I have here in my hand an envelope. This contains seven tickets to the opening ceremony of the London Olympics. There is also a concert at another location nearby. All of you are invited to attend. Your rival, 7th Anthem, turned down these tickets. So they’re yours to take.”
The members accepted the tickets. As for Ethan, he smiled to himself.
It’s about an hour later. Ethan arrived in his apartment. He looked at an old UTurn poster. It was from 2007. He smiled evilly at the poster.
In his mind, he felt like 7A was nearing the end. For several months, they had disappeared. He checked their Twitter pages, and they hardly spoke. Their Facebook was dead. Their new Instagram profiles hardly had any updates. At this point, things look bleak for them.
Then he remembered something. He remembered when he, and the band, were about 16, Alyson’s favorite band, S Club 8, disappeared. Made no announcements. Just poof, and they were gone. He also remembered that UTurn, 7A’s original name at the time, were aiming to be the new, American S Club 8. Their goal was to pick up where the original band left off.
Over time, 7A had accumulated success, and greatly surpassing S Club 8 could’ve ever achieved. But the scandals surrounding Bailey, Justin, and Andrew has hurt their future. For a while, Bailey’s partying and Andrew being temporarily gay helped them. But combined with Bailey’s apparent drug and alcohol use, Andrew whoring himself, and Justin’s meltdown, it hurt them.
Ethan smiled, and started putting together an outfit for the event.
It’s now the day of the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics. Ethan, and his band The OutLaws, arrived at the area were the concert was being held. Everyone received programs. It had a list of the acts that were performing.
Then Ethan noticed something strange. He saw the first act was named “SURPRISE ACT.” He wasn’t sure what that meant. Maybe my band will be performing, and we don’t even know it, he thought to himself.
Soon it was time for the show to start. The song started, and immediately Ethan heard a recognizable voice. It was Alyson, and she appeared on the stage through the smoke and the lights. She was dressed in a loose tank top that had the American flag, torn, studded denim shorts, and combat boots. Soon. Several more people appeared. It was 7th Anthem, and they were all dressed in hipster-style rockstar clothes! Everyone had the American flag on their tank tops, except for Justin, who had the British flag. It was a brand new song, and the main leads were Andrew, Justin, and Alyson, with the other members leading the chorus.
The audience was shocked to see 7A performing again. For once in a long time, 7A actually looked well rested. They gave life to their performance. They energetic. They didn’t look exhausted and dead. They were alive and alert. Even Justin and Bailey were apparently healthy.
After they finished dancing and singing live, they announced that the song is their new single, Reckless’N’Wild. Then they performed their hit single, Hypnotizer. After they finished, they left the stage.
Everyone around Ethan were applauding and screaming for 7A. But Ethan himself was shocked. He thought 7A were nearing the end. Instead, they came back with a brand new song, and a fully energetic performance. They were as confident as ever. With that, Ethan left the concert ouit of frustration.
It’s the next day. Ethan went on his iPad to see if anyone is talking about 7A. They were one of the highest trends on Twitter, most re-blogged about on Tumblr, and the most Instagram-ed.
On Facebook, 7A made an announcement: They were going to release their third 7A album, which is their fifth overall for the band since 2005. They described their sound as a “return to our Europop roots, but with a 2012 dubstep twist. And more mature lyrics as we have completed our transition from teen pop to young adult pop.”
Ethan stared at the announcement. Then suddenly, he threw his iPad across the room. It was smashed against the wall. He started breathing heavy. In his mind, he needed to do something to 7A, and quick. Will he succeed?
