Chapter 5

Elizabeth's POV

He grabs my arm and turns me around, I feel a sob escaping my lips, then I hug him so tight, he is holding my hand the same way he held it the day I died. We stay standing like that for a minute, then my phone rings, I look at it, and the caller is Rose, she never calls. I answer,

"Rose, what's wrong"

"It's not Rose " her whispering voice says "she gave me the phone and told me to call you, Dad hid Kate and I in the panic room, I can see them on the screen, dad is shot and mom is unconscious" she says that all fast, it takes me a minute to get what she said.

"Ok calm down, you and Kate alright?"

"mhm"

"ok, I need you to tell me what you see on the screens"

"There is a black man, he is talking to dad, there are three men in the room with a gun like the one you showed me the other day, mom is on the floor, she is not awake.”

"ok, don't panic, I will call you back in a minute alright"

"ok"

I hang up, Donald looks at me in a confused way, as if asking me with his eyes about the call I just received, I shake my head and then dial a number on my phone.

"hello?" he asks

"hello Kurt"

"Elizabeth??"

"yeah. Don't ask any questions, there's no time, I need a favor if you are free"

"Off course, anything"

"You heard about the incident, I suppose, with the black man, well, he just attacked my house, Kurt" I try to walk away and speak as quietly as possible,

"Kurt my daughter is there, she is in the panic room with her cousin, the people I live with, they're there, a men and a women, one of them is shot, you gotta help them Kurt"

"Of course, address?"

"8123 12th ave." I hesitate for a moment

"we have a pass code" I look at Donald

"It is Donald, the pass code is Donald"

"got it"

I hang up then call Rose's phone again, Renesmee answers immediately

"Aunt Maya help us"

"Don't worry sweetie, help is on the way, you know the pass code right?"

"Donald"

"Yes sweetie, the man coming is called Kurt, he is my friend"

"ok"

"are they still outside ?"

"yeah, mom is awake now, she is in the corner, the black man pushed her away when she woke up”

At this moment I think his patience runs out, he grabs my arm.

"you're going to tell me what's going on, now"

"I've been living with some relatives since I left, Solomon now is in their house, Kate is in a panic room with a 12 year old"

"Kate who?"

"Kate our daughter. Ness you still there?"

"Yeah"

"Anyone came yet"

"yeah, a bunch of men just arrived out.. Oh God, the black man, he has a gun to mom's head..."

I hear the phone drop to the floor…

"Renesmee are you still there"

No answer, I scream into the phone “NESS”

"mhm" she answers

"what happened?"

"he ran away, the black man.. Hold on someone is talking to me on the telecom.. It's a woman called Jane, she has a lot of tattoos, should I open?"

"yeah" I say half smiling "I will be home soon"

"Ok, don't be late"

"I won't"

"bye"

"bye"

I hang up then look at Donald, he is staring at me, I sink into his eyes, then he hugs me, and I hug back.

"I don't know whether to be happy that you are alive or angry because you lied to me"

"I am sorry"

"I love you"

"me too"

When arrive to D.C., Donald and I ride to the house, where FBI cars are parked all around, we make our way inside and upstairs, where everyone is, Kate runs to me, I hug her and she hugs back, I lift her up and we walk towards Don, he smiles at her and she smiles back, he extends his arms and she jumps right into them as if she has known him for years, the three of us stand there, like a family for the first time.

Then Emmett shows up, his forehead is injured, and he is standing like he is ready to attack someone at any point now, but I give him a reassuring look, and once all Federal agents have left the house, I introduce Donald as my husband, as the father of my daughter.
