"Books are special."
Wattpad is a platform which allows writers to express themselves by use of their books and also, entertaining others who are readers.
There are plethoras of books with the same cliché storyline, Mary Sue characters and ways of writing. It can be hard to find new content that doesn't belong to any of these categories.
One of the most over used type of writing on Wattpad is the first person style of writing, mainly in the point of view of the female. The thoughts, opinions, dreams of the heroine are shown during the course of the novel but rarely is that of the male's revealed.
Even if it is revealed, we often hear it from the female's mouth or side. We are tired of this.
Hence the reason for this campaign. We want the emergence of a new style of writing which glorifies the male point of view. A book that shows us the male character's own opinions and thoughts about certain events happening around him.
The female POV is slowly becoming cliché and overused. We believe this is the right time for the male POV to become a thing.
Many people complain about how hard it can be to write in the male point of view, mainly because most of the authors here on Wattpad are females and find it difficult to relate at that level with their character.
Not to worry, we'll be giving you a little tutorial on how to write the male POV in the next book.
How do you join the campaign?
You can follow us and encourage your friends to do so too.
You can also add our hashtag #FreeTheMalePOV to your book and the sticker.
Then you can dedicate a chapter to us so we can notice your book or send the link of your book to us privately.
If your book fits the criteria, then your book will be featured on our reading lists.
What are the criterion for acceptance?
Your book must have the hashtag #FreeTheMalePOV so we know it's for us. And of course, the sticker.
You'll be screened based on four things:
1. Editing - Punctuation, spelling and storyline. If your book is riddled with bad English and large plot holes big enough to sink a ship, then it's a no-no for us.
2. Genre - Please, make sure your story is categorized in the right genre so as to make it easier for readers to find it.
3. Book Cover - Have a decent book cover, please. Books are always judged by their covers, unfortunately.
4. Blurbs - You need to have a good summary to be able to hook your readers to click on your book. The same applies to us.
Once your story is submitted, please be patient and if your entry is accepted to be featured, you'll get a notification. If it's not, we'll inform you also.
Major rules
* Your story must have at least, three chapters to be considered for featuring on our reading lists. We might decide to bend the rules a bit if we find your book really deserving.
* Please ensure you do not abandon or delete these books without our notice. It only makes it harder for us.
We however, reserve the right to remove your book once you break these rules.
Have fun writing!
