I was currently in my room reading one of the finest books in my collection. When tiny footsteps could be heard outside my room door. I sighed. I knew exactly who it was. I grabbed the beige colored sheets that scattered across my lap pulling them off me. The knocks on my door were so faint that you would have to listen more clearly just to hear them.
I walked over to the wooded door. I grabbed the silver knob with the palm of my hand. Twisting oh so slightly. Once I opened the door wide enough. The little girl with beautiful golden locks came strolling in the room. She looked up at me with tears in her hazel eyes with a bit of blue in them.
"Honey what's wrong?" I asked concern clearly laced my tone. She looked down at her intertwined hands. "I had a bad dream aunty." she said sniffling. I grabbed her small little hand and made my way to my king sized bed.
I picked her up and set her down under the sheets. I sat down next to her. "Would you like to hear a story?" I asked. She nodded frantically. I cleared my throat.
I decided to tell her the story of Cinderella. Or more like my version. I was told this story when I was little. My mom would tell me this story when I had a bad dream just like Victoria.
"There once was a girl named Cassie. She loved the garden down below her window. She always wished she could one day be down there in the dirt. Playing with the different kinds of animals. But, her evil step mom and step sisters wouldn't bare to let their neighbors see such a pour dressed teenage girl in their garden of roses.
One day while Cassie was washing the dirty floors, there was a knock at the front door. Cassie looked around to see if anyone was going to open the door. When she didn't see anyone she quickly got up from her sitting position. She strolled over to the front door. When she got there. There was a middle aged man outside on the porch.
She unlocked the door. And opened it. When she poked her head out that got the man's attention... "
When I was finished with the story, Vic was already fast to sleep. I positioned my hands under her. And gently lifted her up not wanted to wake her up. I went out of the room. When I got to her room a little light could be seen from under the door. The door was slightly ajar.
I could hear Britney singing to baby Val. She was singing one of the Spanish songs mom used to sing to us when we were little. I went in. I started to sing along when Brit got to emotional to continue. Vic started to wake up. I set her on her bed. I went over to Brit. I hugged her as tight as I could.
I wiped away her tears. When she was done crying, she started to sing along. I smiled to myself. I looked at Val. She was laying in her crib sleeping peacefully. When we were done singing. I turned towards the only person I have left. My sister...
"You should get some sleep for school tomorrow." I said patting her thigh. "Who's gonna watch the girls?" she asked. "I will stay home tomorrow, you need your education." I said to her. You could see the guilt in her eyes. I waved my hand in the air telling her to let it go.
She sighed. "Okay." She said softly. "Hey Brit?" I called after her. She turned around to face me. "If Aiden comes back tell me, I don't want him hurting you if I'm gone, got it?" I asked sternly. She just nodded. I didn't like aiden. He would hurt her when I wasn't at home. They have been together for a long time. Even had two children together.
She is to afraid to break up with him. I hope he leaves her instead. It will be better for the both of us. I can't keep checking up on my sister to make sure Aiden isn't around her. One day she's gonna have to grow some balls, and kick him out. I would do it if she would let me. I went back to my room and drifted into dreamland. The only things on my mind were my sister and the girls...
