. Arlael

I stumbled through the forest, ignoring the desperate calls behind me.

She is the princess of Raneal, or she should say, was. I wiped away the tears that were streaming down I beautiful, angelic face.

I had kept my secret the best I could, but somehow it had gotten out, and now I was running away from everything I had ever known.

I wanted to blame my mother, but I knew that that wouldn't be fair. My mother had followed her heart when she was young, and it had led to heartbreak, but also happiness.

Rakel is a magical world, a fantasy, in fact it had many, mystical, beautiful creatures, including fairies, werewolves, pixies, unicorns, griffins, and the occasional vampire, but most of them died out years ago.

Her mother had loved a werewolf, who had died protecting her from her husband while she was giving birth to me. King Hogwart was in a rage when he found out that not only had his wife had an affair with a werewolf, but her unborn child ( me) was not his. He found out days before she gave birth, and tracked her down.

John, the werewolf, had been by her side through the whole pregnancy, and had died a hero, bringing down king Hogwart, and protecting his love.

My mother had transported us back to her kingdom, Raneal, in a hurry to get the heck out of there, putting as much distance between Hogwart's kingdom as possible, and creating a new future for us as well.

( present day )

Crying won't help, I reminded myself angrily. The kingdom hated werewolves, and so when they found out that I was half werewolf, they had banished me, their own princess, heir to the throne of Raneal. I tripped over a branch, but caught my balance right before I stumbled into a pond. I wanted to cheer, I was so happy that she had found water.I used a filtering spell to clean the water, I sent a silent thanks to my mother, who had taught me magic.

After I drank my fill, I shifted into my wolf. It took slightly longer than a fullblood werewolf, but it wasn't painful, fortunately. My wolf was, unique, me being one quarter fairy and one quarter pixie, I also had wings. I was pure white, with violet eyes and pearly, iridescent, and feathery wings. I could hide my wings with a spell, if I needed to, but I wanted to be what I never could be as a princess, herself.

I relished the feeling of running free in the forest as a wolf, my boundless energy showing as I finally, FINALLY, ran free. My wings fluttering behind me as I ran, and ran, and ran.

I halted as I came to a large, no, gigantic, clearing. I panted and started walking. I perked up her ears as I heard a waterfall close by. I trotted towards the sound, gaining speed with each step, until I was running full speed through the clearing to a huge waterfall that turned into a river farther downstream. I didn't know why I did it, but as I came to a stop before the waterfall, I stepped into it, and my eyes widened at what she saw.

Fairies, pixies, fluttering about, a mother wolf tending to her yearling pups, mate at her side, another fairy tending lovingly to some griffins, young pixies racing unicorns, all getting along in this beautiful place, peacefully.

I stepped forward in awe, snapping a twig in the process, making everyone look at her. "Aw, crap." I muttered.

Chapter 2

Everyone was looking at her in wonder, for they had never seen such a creature. 'A wolf, with wings?,'was going through their heads.

I backed up until I felt the water against my back paw, frightened. I was about to turn and run away, when a young male pixie, clearly noticing my discomfort, called out "Wait! Don't go, we won't hurt you, I promise," he spoke the last words softly, and his eyes pleadingly begged her not to go. I hesitated, then decided to stay, as his promise seemed genuine.

I then shifted back into my fairy form, and some of the women and children gasped as I switched. I was dressed in a beautiful, but simple, dress. It was a light teal color that matched my eyes, with pearls and various gems and crystals decorating the gown, especially the top half.

The pixie slowly approached me and spoke softly, as if to a child. "Hello, my name's Mark Thomas, and this is Arlael."

After he said that, I started smiling and chuckled. They all looked at me as if I was crazy, well, maybe I am. "What are you laughing at?" He asked, smiling along with me. "In Rakel, all of the important kingdoms have names starting with R, and the fact that Arlael doesn't start with an R, makes me feel free, like I never have before," I explained.

"Ah, now I see," Mark said, "well, this, he said gesturing towards Arlael, is Arlael, where nobody is judged by any abnormalities, or, as we like to t call them, challenges. They are not judged by color of skin, crimes they have committed, or crimes they're family has committed. But, he said, his voice slightly cold, we will not hesitate to run you out of Arlael if you commit a serious crime."

I nodded, slowly. "What is your name, and, if you don't mind me asking, what are you?" Mark asked me.

I gulped, but then I said, "I am Ella, former princess of Raneal, daughter of Isalee. I was driven out of the kingdom because I am half wolf." I looked down, ashamed. "My mother is fairy and pixie, so I am half pixie and fairy, and half wolf."

The next question surprised me. "Do you plan on staying in Arlael?"mark asked, curious. "I don't know, I mean, I wasn't planning on it," I stuttered. Everybody's face fell, especially Marks. "Then again, none of this was really planned, so, yes, I'll stay." As I said those last words, the people of Arlael started clapping and cheering loudly
