"Honey... I don't think this was a very good idea." Bailey warily glanced over at Matt, who had a glint of amusement in his eyes.

"What are you talking about, Bail? This is my best idea yet!"

Bailey glanced down at her tangled-up hands, messing around with her skates, and then back at Matt, "I think this was a bad omen. I mean look at this, Matt! I can't even tie up my laces correctly. My hands are frozen."

Matt laughed and got onto his feet. Clonking his way over in his skates, he knelt in front of Bailey and batted her hands out of the way.

"It's your first time, Bailey. You have to relax a bit. I'm here, aren't I?"

Bailey just rolled her eyes at her "chivalrous" boyfriend, "I can't even look at you, Matt," she laughed slightly, "I'm gonna be a huge embarrassment! Everyone will see me and see a huge mess next to the hockey legend of this town! No, I'm going home." Bailey bent down, attempting to take off her skates, but Matt was too quick. In seconds she was up on her feet, wobbling around like a fool - or maybe just a really uncoordinated penguin.

"No, we are doing this and we're doing this now! Come on, Bail, you have to face your fears sometimes." Matt goes to Bailey's side and steadies her, bringing one arm around her waist and the other holding her arm, slowly guiding her to the entrance of the rink.

Once inside, Matt makes sure to hold on tight to Bailey. Skating backwards, he holds her hands and pulls her with him.

Bailey squeals, "Matt! You're going too fast."

Matt laughs and slows down a little bit, "I'm sorry, I forgot we had a baby with us."

Bailey scoffed and rolled her eyes, "Baby my ass, I know that you know you were going wayyy too fast for me."

Almost finished with the first lap, Matt has a small smile on his face. Bailey looks up at him and just admires him. He always has that smile on his face. It made him so attractive to Bailey. He's almost always happy, and Bailey likes when he shows it.

What Bailey didn't realize was that those small smiles only came out around her.

Matt glances behind him and decides to let go of Bailey's hands.

"Woah, what the hell do you think you're doing, Matt?"

With a soft chuckle Matt says, "Try to skate on your own for a bit, it'll be good for you. You're already kind of a natural." Before she could respond, Matt turned around and sped off down the rink. Bailey just stood there gob smacked. That jerk.

Haphazardly, she reaches for the railing and takes a breather. Ok, easy. Just stick to the railing for a bit until you get your bearings. Simple. Just as Bailey is about to start her slow, yet amazing, skating career, someone goes whipping past her, causing her to stumble and almost lose her balance. Luckily for Bailey, she didn't fall on her butt. Barely hanging on to the railing, she pulls herself up and hears a hearty laugh coming from in front of her.

Quickly looking up, she sees her wonderful boyfriend, still skating, bent over and cracking up.

Bailey subtly flicks off Matt and sends him the stink eye. This just brings another round of laughs from him.

I'll show him. Bailey is back on her feet and slowly starts to move her left foot out, then her right, still holding on to the railing. Once finishing a lap, Bailey gradually let's go of the railing, determined not to fall. Slowly, but surely, she gets the rhythm in her legs down.

Out left. Out right. Out left. Out right.

A smile forms on Bailey's face as she speeds up a bit. This is kinda fun.

Matt watches on as he skates on the other side of the rink, watching Bailey and loving her determination. He gets a smirk on his face and begins to skate faster. Once he's about ten feet behind Bailey he reaches out his arms. Reaching her, Matt lightly grabs Bailey's hips.

A yelp and a stumble.

Bailey turns around and grabs Matt's arms, making sure he is going down too because he started the mess.

Landing on her butt and then her back, Bailey grimaces and clenches her eyes shut. After slowly opening her eyes, she sees Matt roaming his eyes around her body, worrying he hurt her. He's caging her in, making sure no pressure was on her during their fall.

"Are you okay," he asks in a rush.

"I'm alright, Matt," she got out breathlessly, "I think I just got the wind blown out of me."

"Are you sure? I'm so so sorry, Bail. This is what I get for joking around. I just wanted to do a mild scare and look where it got me. You're all bruised and practically dead and I'm just a terrible boyfriend..." Matt rambles on, worried out of his mind.

Bailey tunes him out and just admires him. His forehead is wrinkled up in worry. His lips pressed firmly together (when he wasn't rambling on and on). His blue-gray eyes, drawn downward, showing glints of worry, yet anyone could see the glimpse of love and adoration within them.

Reaching up, she grabs Matt's face gently in both her hands. She could feel the barely-there-scruff underneath her hands. Matt quiets down and looks down into her eyes.

With a questioning look he starts, "Wha-" but was cut off. Bailey brushed her thumb over Matt's bottom lip and leaned up off the ice. Slowly and gently she kissed him.

Pulling apart, Matt has a smile on his face, "What was that for?"

Mirroring him with a smile on her face, and still so close she could feel his breath, she happily said, "Nothing, I just really love you."

Although she couldn't see it, she felt Matt's face warm from a blush forming on his cheeks. Her smile grew wider, loving how Matt reacted to her.

He had a giant grin on his face and bent down to kiss her again, "I'm glad. I mean I'd be a little worried if you didn't, since we have been dating for like two years now."

Getting back onto his feet, he bends down and pulls Bailey up.

Looking into her hazel eyes - today there were more golden specks than green, he noticed - Matt smiles, "I really love you too. More than you could possibly know," and pulls Bailey to him, hugging her tightly and not wanting to let go.

After finally separating, Bailey laughs and says, "Can we get off the rink? It's fun and all but I'm freezing because some freak tackled me to the ground."

Matt rolls his eyes, "I most definitely did not tackle you, but yes, let's go. Hot chocolate on me for being a terrible boyfriend. Come on."

Hand in hand, they make their way towards the exit.

Once reaching the exit, Bailey lets go of their hands and pushes Matt, catching him off guard. Stumbling, Matt falls on his butt and hears laughs coming from Bailey.

"Payback's a bitch isn't it," Bailey smiles sweetly and walks her way into the lobby. Over her shoulder she looks back at Matt, still on the ground with that dumb smile on his face, and she shouts, "I'm ready for that hot chocolate now!"

Why am I dating this crazy girl? Matt thinks, still on the ground, staring at his gorgeous girlfriend laughing her head off. He reaches into his jacket pocket and feels that tiny box. Knowing if he opened it he would find a simple diamond ring lying safely inside, perfect for Bailey. Because she's your everything. And she really was.
