Chapter 1.

The light was bright. Too bright. It hurt to look around but I had no idea where I was and I felt so confused. Although I could hear voices I couldn't see anything. The voices all sounded confused, upset and annoyed, where ever I was, it didn't seem very nice. I wiggled my fingers and toes, wondering if I was mobile. Yep, sure am, I felt relieved but I was curious as to what I was standing on- it felt like marshmallows, but I wasn't sinking. As I contemplated walking around the light suddenly dimmed. My eyes felt like they were on fire because of the unexpected change and as they adjusted to this new light I became aware of my surroundings.

I realised I was standing in a beautifully designed room. It was tribal themed and had a mask on one wall, behind it the wall seemed to be constructed of mud. The other three walls were varying hues of reddy orange. It was a waiting room of sorts I realised. There were cane chairs placed in a 'U' shape around the 3 red walls and in front of the mud wall was a desk, which seated 3 men and 5 women. I went to walk up to ask where I was and I found I was seemingly stuck to the floor. Other people around me seemed to be struggling and trying to yell for help, but all I could see was their mouths moving, the only voices I could hear were those of the receptionists. I sat on the grass floor and I was again amazed by the softness.

I sat on the grass floor for what seemed like half an hour, but was probably 5 or 10 minutes when a man dressed in an outrageously pink suit that wouldn't work in any place but here, where ever 'here' is, literally skipped up to me.

'Hey Doll-Face, sorry about that light, I accidently flicked the wrong switch.' he smiled at me. I couldn't help but notice his perfectly straight white teeth.

'Hi. Can you tell me where I am?' I begged.

'Sure, sweetie, but first you should know I'm Bill, I'm super gay, and I'm officially your fairy god-mother!' Somehow he patted me on the head and I assumed he was in my 'bubble' or whatever I was trapped in.

I couldn't help but laugh at his self-description and the look on his face as I laughed was worth it.

He smiled again at me. ' So, angel- cakes, you really have no idea where you are?'

I shook my head, too nervous to reply.

Bill took a deep breath. 'You're in the waiting room..... Of Heaven.'

I laughed again- this guy couldn't be for real. I was out shopping less than an hour ago, wait, the building, the collapse, the screams, the rocks. I was in heaven.

I couldn't help but let a tear escape my eyes. 'So I'm dead?' I asked quietly, almost to myself.

Bill hugged me and it felt normal, like a fatherly hug.

'No.' I felt myself relax, but I was still extremely puzzled and Bill sensed it.

'Not yet anyway,' My shoulders stiffened again.

'You see, Princess, when the building collapsed, you were sent into an immediate coma. This means you're not dead, but could at any moment.you could die. It all depends on what's happening down there.' He pointed down and I realised he meant what was happening back in Surrey Hills.

'So is there any way I can see what's happening 'down there'?' I asked using my fingers to form inverted commas around down there.

'Yeah, darl, but you have to do all the registration and stuff to get in first.' I was shocked.

;Aren't I already 'accepted' or whatever?' I asked.

'Yes, yes, yes. But not all of us are mind readers. We need to get your information manually filed and  then you can choose to stay, or take the one off.'

'Ok, I have two questions.' I decided to trust this man in the pink suit, he seemed genuine.

'Shoot.' Bill gave me an award winning smile and again I became mesmerised by his perfect teeth.

'Cool, thanks. First- there are MIND READERS here?' I asked, still not believing it was possible.

'Pssh, of course, bella.'

'Bella?' I raised my eyebrows.

'Beautiful in Italian.' He waggled his eyebrows jokingly.

'Two- what is the "one off"?'

Bill appeared to be fighting an internal battle. 'You'll find out later, I'd love to tell you, but it's not  my place to do so, sorry.'

'It's ok.' I smiled sweetly. It was obvious he wanted to help, but couldn't.

;'Can you take me to get "registered" then, please?' I continued.

'Sure, Cherub, glad to see you show an interest. You'll love it here, I swear.' He started walking and I followed behind, unsure of why I could sudenly walk again.

'You really like pet names, don't you?' I teased him.

'Well, you never told me your name.' Bill shrugged his shoulders.

'It's Maddie.' I smiled as we entered through two large black decorative doors.

Sorry it's taken so long to upload guys, but I finally had some inspiration. This Chapter might be short, I'm still getting the hang of writing on wattpad hahaha. Chapter 1 is dedicated to one of my real-life best friends, @narnni3487 because she kept winging for me to get off my lazy bum, and update already hahaha.

I've drawn a mind map type thing so hopefully I'll be able to update more often now, and I'm thinking about starting another story, but I'll write it first, then upload...

Thanks for reading, and please comment and like (:
