The shop owner didn't even look up as Ahsoka walked in, her wide blue eyes immediately taking in the scene. It was getting to be later at night so there weren't as many bodies inside the tool shop, but there were still enough to warrant it being busy.
Ahsoka slipped and slid in and out of the moving crowds in the aisles, looking for the Jedi starship repair section. It had taken at least two hours to find a tool shop, so she needed to hurry in order to wrap the gift and give it to Anakin before midnight. After midnight, Christmas was over, and she knew he'd be back because he said he would be. And Anakin Skywalker kept his word, even to a fault sometimes.
A shiny, metallic tool caught Ahsoka's eye, and she walked over to examine it. It seemed like a socket wrench but looked a bit different than the one Anakin used, and she wondered vaguely if it was the correct one.
Well, there was only one way to find out. Ahsoka strode up to the front desk. "Excuse me?"
The Devronian male turned to Ahsoka, eyes narrowing. "Yeah?"
She held the tool up. "Is this a socket wrench able to fix a Jedi starfighter?"
The man laughed. "You're new to this, aren't you?"
Ahsoka flushed. "A bit."
"Alright, well, this one is what you need." He gestured to the wrench. "And it's 500 credits."
Ahsoka blew out a long breath, muttering "Fine" under her breath as she pulled out her credits pouch and counted how much she had. Luckily she had about 600, so she gave the man the required amount and took the wrench, waving goodbye and exiting the shop.
Anakin had been complaining about his socket wrench for at least a few rotations at this point, and Ahsoka was determined to out-gift him this year. Every year for Christmas he'd given her an amazing gift and she always felt like hers didn't match up, and this year that was going to change.
But the tricky part was that the Jedi didn't celebrate Christmas; the Counsel thought that the idea of the holiday was selfish and unnecessary. But Anakin and Ahsoka had always been different than most Jedi; why stop at celebrating holidays?
The fifteen year old Togruta walked through the streets or Coruscant to her speeder, smiling to herself as it started to snow. Snow was an annual occasion on Christmas because of Coruscant's cold atmosphere, but it never ceased to entertain her or Anakin. She'd look up sometimes as they walked outside whenever it snowed and Anakin would be looking up with one of his rare small smiles. He'd grown up on a desert planet, so seeing snow was still a source of enjoyment to him.
Her cloak brushed in the dusting of snow as she walked, wrapping it tighter around herself as she got cold. She sighed to herself; the edges of the cloak were going to be soaking wet.
Ahsoka started her speeder and flew through the snow, blinking profusely to keep the ice crystals out of her eyes and wishing she'd thought to bring her flight goggles with her on the way to the shop. But luckily for her she could use the Force to find her way when others couldn't.
The Temple looked beautiful from afar; it's towers stretched high into the sky and the lights from inside glimmered as they reflected off of the snow-covered ground and the flakes in the sky. Ahsoka landed in the main hangar where she kept her speeder and starfighter, eying the socket wrench with a smirk. Anakin will love this. She thought smugly. There's no way he'll give me a better gift this year.
