Also, it is always going be in Natalie's POV unless I say otherwise. Just thought i'd put that out there!
I finished packing my black duffel bag and denim backpack, it felt like a regular occurrence, packing my bags, wanting to leave this hell hole. I write a note saying goodbye to Ronnie, in the letter I also told him how much I loved him, believe it or not, I still kind of did.
Walking towards the front door of the apartment, memories of Ronnie and I flashed before my eyes, whether he was beating me or if I was forgiving him, the memory was still branded into my brain. We did have our sweet moments, stealing sweet little kisses, talking softly in whispers as if someone could hear us.
Bruises remained on my arms, legs and stomach, I was covered in them. Scars remained on my wrists, some fresh marks from just before. I hoped that my face wasn't as red as it was when I was crying, I have applied fresh make up so hopefully that would cover it all up.
My arms were covered in a black cardigan and I had maroon skinny jeans on and a fully buttoned up white shirt. I watched the ground as I walked, almost walking into the front door, I turned the cold handle slowly, I took my first step out.
No looking back now. I closed the door and walked to the elevator, watching my black vans shuffle down the hallway. I arrived in the elevator, pressing the button for the lobby, I placed my duffel bag on the floor and readjusted my grey beanie, pushing the brown curls from my eyes.
I hummed along to the repetitive tune called elevator music, eager to escape this apartment building. When the bing sounded, I picked up my bag and walked out of the dodgy doors, I walked through the lobby, smiling to the font desk people.
I got on the first bus going in the direction of Jenna's house, out of the city and into more of a suburban area. Coming closer to the bus stop near Jenna's house, I noticed more kids outside and playing in the streets. I almost fell out of my seat when the bus stopped, I looked around and saw that it was my stop.
I stood up and gathered my stuff, smiling politely to the bus driver I stepped out of the vehicle and waited for it to leave, another old had gotten off of the bus at this stop and started talking to me about his eight cats. I smiled and waved goodbye to the seemingly nice man, before walking away to Jenna's house.
It wasn't a long walk, five minutes maybe, only seven houses away from the bus stop. I arrived and walked up to the two storey building, it was a white house with faded shutters, there was no perfect garden as Jenna lived here by herself and always had friends over.
Not going to lie, the children who lived across the street kind of creeped me out, there was a little girl and boy, they were twins and only about five years old. They always seemed to be watching me and right now, I could feel their stares burning into the back of my neck.
I opened the front door a few inches then remembered that I haven't lived here for three years, I need to learn how to knock before entering. I closed the door then knocked and reopened it, walking in and into the lounge room.
"It's rude to just walk into people's houses you know?" Jenna asked when she spotted me, the blonde gave me an unimpressed look.
"I knocked" I shrugged at her and walked up stairs,
"Where do you think you're going?!" She yelled up to me, I froze in my tracks, her voice being replaced by Ronnie's in my head. I quickly walked back downstairs and back into the lounge room,
"You're right, it was rude, sorry" I apologised, bowing my head in shame, she gave me a weird look but waved off my behaviour quickly. Looking around I saw some guy with black spiky hair, a tattoo sleeve and wearing a black shirt and black skinny jeans, he looked like the most buff one here.
Sitting next to him was some guy, covered in tattoos wearing a cap and glasses,
Another guy with long brown hair and seemingly no tattoos sat on the couch laughing at the two playing COD on Jenna's large, 72" inch plasma. Then there was one more guy who just sat at the bar window on the far side wall, he wore a white tank top and some black skinnies, he was also covered in tattoos and drank some Jack Daniels quietly.
I stood awkwardly in the doorway, not really knowing what I was suppose to do. I moved from foot to the other and chewed on my bottom lip, Jenna cleared her throat and no one paid attention. She sighed before clearing her throat again, this time more loudly.
All of the guys looked up at her, she smiled in triumph and clapped her hands together. Checking one last time to check if she had everyone's full attention,
"Good, now! This is my friend Natalie! She has decided to move back in with me after three years, so be nice. Mike, she's taking your room" With that, Jenna turned away and walked out of the lounge room. Guilt filled my stomach and I assumed that the guy who was glaring at me, holding tightly onto his glass of whiskey, was Mike.
"Sorry. Don't worry, I'll take the lounge. You don't have to move for me" I told him, smiling slightly, it still felt like the fakest smile though.
"Yeah. You will, won't you" Mike muttered before skulling the rest of his drink and standing up, he pushed past me and went upstairs, soon I heard a door close and I guess he went to his room. Well, rude much.
"Sorry 'bout him, I think he's PMSing or something" The hispanic looking guy said, the other two went back to playing whatever game they were before so I decided to look around the house, to see if it has changed since the last time I came here, three years ago.
