Natalie Gamble looked up to the sky, moving the lit cigarette away from her mouth. Wisps of smoke escaped from her parted lips, tumbling up towards the clouds overhead. It was almost poetic the way it swirled around itself and then disappeared into the fog. Almost like how her father had disappeared from Natalie's life.
He had been slowly fading away, it just took an overdose for him to finally vanish. She remembered her mother crying into the night, drunkenly blubbering in her room, loud enough for Natalie to hear. She also remembered her sister's lifeless body, hanging by the end of a rope.
Natalie shook the thoughts away quickly, shoving the lit end of the cigarette into the rock she was sitting on and flicking it to the ground. Her old best friend, Abigail, would've scolded her for littering. A sad, reminiscent smile flickered across Natalie's face as she remember their good times, and disappeared as she remembered that she wasn't a part of her life anymore.
