"I don't have long,". The words hit Colby like a brick. "No, please Sammy! Hold on, you can't go! Not now, not ever," his throat and eyes burned. He knew crying would only make Sam feel worse, but he couldn't hold it back any longer. He hugged Sam, burying his face in his chest to muffle his sobbing. "Promise me something Colbs,"
"Yeah?" He said, pulling back, gasping for air between sobs.
"Always go up and beyond the norm. Promise me you'll never be normal, do it for me."
"Of course, I promise."
Their lips collided. As they kissed, Colby noticed the heart monitor slowed down. He pulled away. "Goodbye Colbear, I've always loved you more than anything and I always will,"
"SAM, NO," the heart monitor let out a long eerie beep. Colby grabbed Sam's hand. And squeezed it. "Always," He said standing up. He walked out and signed a few papers in reception, before heading to his car. He pulled up at the beach and got out of his car. He sat on the rocks, watching the waves crash. Sam's last few words echoed in his head. If only they had known sooner.
