MIN Hye p.o.v
"Min Hye-yah." I hear mom's voice coming from the other side of the door.
"Yes?" I yell out for her to hear.
"Jaemin's here! He's coming for dinner as well. He's coming up soon, all right?" Mom screams back, and my eyes immediately dart to Park Hyo Jin, my best friend. Her eyes were wide open at first, but then her lips slowly turned into a huge smile.
"Okay, I got it, Mom!" I quickly reply as I heard her footsteps walking away.
"Jaemin's here?" With a sheepish smile, Hyo Jin turns to me, as if for confirmation.
"Yeah, seems so." I nod back.
"I am so lucky to have a best friend like you to be childhood friends with Jaemin...if not it would've been almost impossible to be close to him!" She exclaims with bright eyes.
"Yeah, exactly, so you should be grateful! I almost got a shock when you told me you like him..." I forced a smile at her.
"Yup, thanks!" She bobs her head up and down. As soon as she finishes speaking, the door slams open.
"Yah, Jung Min Hye!" The boy that abruptly entered my room yells loudly with a bright smile. But before he could say anything else, his eyes land on Hyo Jin.
"Oh, Hi, Hyo Jin." His smile disappears for a split second before returning, then he turns to me. "Never knew you had company."
"Now you know." I crack a smile.
"Pfft, yeah, yeah." His smile widens as he plops himself right by me.
"So? What do you think of my surprise visit?" He leans in closer to me almost naturally, but I couldn't help but feel my heart thump loudly in my chest.
"You always do it, so what's so surprising?" I chuckle nervously, feeling the heat rise to my head as he places his hand on my forehead.
"Hey, you sick? You're totally red." He laughs at me, before I snap out of it.
Hyo Jin's looking.
Placing both of my arms on his shoulders, I push him away. "No, not sick." I say as I notice his smile falter.
"Right." He awkwardly pulls back, running his fingers through his hair.
I immediately looked away from him to glance at Hyo Jin, calming my beating heart.
Hyo Jin returned my gaze and chuckled. "You two are really close." She says, and I couldn't help but be a tiny bit guilty. She doesn't know how I really feel about Jaemin.
"Um, well, I'll go help my mom set up the table. You two can stay here until the preparations are ready." I speak up and approach the door, but Jaemin's voice stops me.
"I'll come help you." I momentarily pause as I lay my fingers on the door knob.
"Nah, you stay here with Hyo Jin. I can manage by myself." I quickly shrugged him off, opening the door and headed down to the kitchen with a heavy heart.
Of all people,
I just had to fall for the same person as my best friend.
