Blood

Benvolio doesn't know what it is about Tybalt that makes his blood burn, that turns him from peacemaker to fighter. All he

knows is that he lives for those moments, those moments that make him feel alive.

Hero

Tybalt is not the hero-he knows that much. But if he is to be the villan to Benvoilo's hero, he is happy to take the role.

Hope

With every encounter they have, Benvolio hopes it will be different, that somehow this time cooler heads will prevail.

But in his heart he knows it will not.

Party

He knows going to the Capulet party is a bad idea, but he is as bound as Romeo in the desperate need for a glimpse of his

love, no matter the consequences.

Bittersweet

Mercutio's death is a triumph for his honour but a devastation for his soul. Benvolio's face is forever etched with grief, and

Tybalt cannot take it back.

Confession

If Benvolio's name passed through Tybalt's lips in the dark, cool, comforting walls of the church, then only Friar Lawerence

knew.

Balance

Benvolio was all garish colour and jokes, while Tybalt was sleek blackness and cold contempt. Somehow they balanced

each other out.

Sides

No matter how much Benvolio yearned for peace he knew he was a Montague; he had never felt that more than when

Tybalt had killed Mercutio.

And he'd never felt it less than when Romeo killed Tybalt.
