"Chaos is an angel who fell in love with a demon."
-Christopher Poindexter____________________________
Park Jaejung's seventeenth birthday is right around the corner, and for her that meant either being the pride and joy of her family, or their biggest disappointment in history. Her sister who's nineteen already had her binding.
Now what's a binding? A binding is something all witches have to go through, once you turn seventeen, at midnight you must perform a ritual that binds a demon to you to show that you're ready for life. If you succeed in this then you're able to leave your house and start a life on your own. If you fail you must wait at least two years before attempting another binding otherwise the consequences on your body are quite severe.
My sister had succeeded, binding a demon called Jackson Wang to her, he wasn't incredibly powerful, he wasn't incredibly weak. Just mediocre really, at most he was like a puppy causing mischief at any time he could.
I was worried, so far everyone in my family had succeeded, the ritual ending almost as quickly as it started, my parents were expecting the same phenomenal results from my binding but it left you tossing and turning at night.
One week later
Saying good night I promised I'd get some rest as my birthday was tomorrow, meaning the ritual was tomorrow. Falling into my bed I crawled under the covers and closed my eyes.
I was awake as soon as I had fallen asleep, eyes adjusting to a dark house. Getting out of bed shivering, the air incredibly cold biting at my warm flesh. Shivering I tiptoed out of my room, or at least I thought it was my room. The hallway was not my own, I wasn't in my house.
Looking back there was just blackness, as if where I had woken up had suddenly disappeared from sight leaving a huge black hole. Feeling nervous I decided I didn't want to stay in the room anymore venturing out into the house the floorboards creaking under my weight. Trying the doors they were all locked, frowning I saw a set of stairs. Walking down them I suddenly slipped and fell the rest of the way. Landing in a heap at the bottom groaning and sitting up, blinking I were met with a dark kitchen, it was immaculate.
Did something even live here?
Then I saw it, a faint yellow glow down the hallway in what seemed to be a parlour. Quietly as I could creeping(in your heart babe! Okayokaysorry) down the hallway wincing at each creak of the wood. Finally I got to the doorway, holding my breath as I peeked around the corner and saw a male back turned to me pouring what seemed to be a blood red liquid glimmering in the dull light of a lamp.
Watching him as he sipped the liquid before setting the cup quietly back down on the table, then he was turning around and I hid behind the doorway no longer in sight heart beating loudly in my chest. I didn't know why but I had a feeling that whoever this was shouldn't see me. That something horrible would happen if he laid eyes on me. Hearing slow deliberate footsteps walking closer to the doorway I held my breath heartbeat in my throat now pounding in your head eyes squeezed shut.
Please don't see me please keep walking.
Then he was walking down the hallway not even glancing at me, seemingly as if I wasn't even visible to him and I breathed a quiet sigh of relief.
Quietly following him I was led to an office, he stopped in middle turning around making me back pedal so fast I tripped over my own feet and crashed to the ground with a thump. Looking at him he just turned and stared at me, a chill creeping up my spine I felt a cold sweat start to form as he walked closer to me. "Well well well, looks like a little birdy wandered into the wrong place." he murmured a smirk on his lips bangs covering his eyes so you could only see below the bridge of his nose. "Better run darling." he hummed and then I was off sprinting up the stair feet pounding on the wooden floors making them creak louder than I've ever heard.
