"In the end, if I fall or if I get it all I just hope that  it's worth it.."

-The Neighbourhood

I still missed my family, my sister how worried she must be but the harsh reality of my life was that I might never see them again. A knock at the door snapped me out of my thoughts as I turned, "Lady Park, you may head down to the dining room now if you wish." a muffled voice said and I just closed my eyes taking a deep breath.

I got this, it's just dinner-with satan and his royal family. Nothing too much, I can handle it.

Spinning on my heels I first practiced walking in heels until I was confident enough to not fall flat on my face. Opening the door I was met with none other than Taehyung who just offered his arm. "I have to take you down to the dining room, part of my princely duties." he said shrugging and I nodded hesitantly taking his arm trying not to think about how firm his forearm was under my touch and instead focus on not falling down the stairs.

Upon entering the dining room heads turned and oh gosh there were more demons than I had expected, horns of various shapes and sizes turning to meet my gaze with sharp noses and slanted eyes. "Ah, Lady Park, Prince Taehyung. Please, take a seat dinner is about to begin." his father said and I nodded taking a seat Taehyung sitting next to me. I felt out of place, too many eyes on me and it was so overwhelming. Servers entered and placed the first course in front of us, salad. Well it looked like salad but there were some plants I had never seen in the seventeen years of me being alive. "So, how are you adjusting to life here in the underworld Lady Park?" Minghao said smiling and I shifted under everyone's gaze.

I didn't like being the center of attention, that was a given and when I was younger I had been more than happy to give my older sister the spotlight. Currently, with everyone's gaze trained on me I could feel my skin crawl, I was, however extremely competitive and hated to lose. Most of the demon's were watching me, trying to dissect my every move to pick out a flaw. To watch me fall but I felt a small flame bloom in my chest, a need to prove them wrong.

To prove that I'd be the best damn thing that the Underworld had ever seen, and that would be my greatest strength and my biggest weakness.

"I'm doing fine, the scenery from my room is absolutely lovely." I said with a posh fake tone a sarcastic smile on my face, "I've always wanted to be ripped from my family and thrown into the role of an Underworld Princess, I mean have you seen my dress it's absolutely gorgeous and the food! It's-what is this," I continued pausing to poke at the salad before tasting it and oh it was god awful I had to physically restrain myself from spitting it out and instead forcing myself to swallow the repulsive plant. "Well the food I can make a hard pass on, at least this, salad I'd make a hard pass on. Maybe the next course." I finished and Taehyung stared at me with disbelief some of the other demons gaping before he snorted and slapped a hand over his mouth. Kicking his leg to get him to shut up just brought on another snort along with a bout of giggles he tried to muffle and Minghao's eyebrow twitched.

"Well I'm glad to hear that, I'll make note with the chef to never give you devil's root again in your food." he said teeth gritted as he stiffly chewed his own food. Taehyung finally swallowing his remaining giggles started to eat to while I just pushed the plants around on my plate. Second course was some strange fruits I'd never seen before, they were delicious though and I happily ate them thinking of my sister, she would have loved to taste them.

Shaking my head slightly so as not to be too sad during the dinner I just stayed quiet as third course rolled around, meat being placed in front of me. It was medium rare, or at least that's what it looked like. Tender, using my fork and knife I cut it into bite size pieces before chewing them slowly. After dessert it was finally over, luckily I didn't have to converse too much and it was mostly simple polite small talk.

"Lady Park? A walk?" Taehyung said grinning as he offered me his arm and you frowned but took the arm letting him lead you out into the gardens. "I must say, you did put on quite a show during dinner." he said as the guards nodded and bowed as we passed them. "Most thought you'd be a mess,"

"A mess?" I asked raising an eyebrow, "why would I be a mess?" I questioned quietly to myself frowning,

"Because you got thrown into a world you're unfamiliar with and no way to return to your other life...?" he said as we paused in front of a small pond.

"Right, that...."

"Honestly, all of them did, there were even bets for if you'd have red eyes from crying and wobbling lips." and I snorted at that.

"I'm sure I sent them into a tizzy then." and he nodded in agreement, "But it's not like I'm going to give them the satisfaction of knowing they somehow broke me, as if that's possible." I rolled my eyes bending down to gaze at a small flower, "I wouldn't break, not in front of them. I'll prove them wrong." I murmured

"Oh?" Taehyung hummed turning to watch me crouch next to the flower and he couldn't help but admire the beauty, "Prove them wrong?" and if I had turned I would have seen him staring at me, but I didn't.

"Prove them wrong, they think I can't be princess, or queen or whatever role the kind has thrusted me into, I'll prove them wrong." I said firmly righting myself turning to stare at the boy gaze burning, "I'll be the best damn Princess, they won't know what hit them and by then I'll be sitting on a throne as they kiss my ass." I declared boldly before walking away leaving the Prince speechless.

Strutting past the guards I walked all the way up to my room only to find the boy in front of my door, "How did you-" I started before shaking my head deciding not to question it.

"Y'know, you say that now..." Taehyung started following me into my room, "but will you really?" he finished laying on my bed watching as I looked at the bookshelf, it was filled with books most in a language I didn't know, the language of the damned, the dead. It was something I hadn't learned since my school decided it was unnecessary to learn it. "See? Already you don't even know our language, you were only able to understand what the demons were saying because they were ordered to speak in a language you could understand." Taehyung pointed out and you gritted your teeth because he was right, you knew virtually nothing about this place, not the language nor the food, nor the culture. Turning I watched as the prince got up from my bed and walked to stand next to me, "but unfortunately for you, that won't be the case at the visc, in your language basically it's a ball. Dedicated to you, to formally introduce you as Lady Park, my fiance and soon to be wife." he grinned, "so I'd study up and try to learn basic phrases and words baby girl." he hummed waving a hand as books started to stack in my arms, "those are the basic books to teach you the alphabet and such, have fun. The visc is in three days by the way." he called over his shoulder as he left me glaring at a closed door.
