AUTHOR'S NOTE: LAURA TO THE SIDE

Laura Matthers crept through the dirty streets of the small town in England, her stomach making obnoxious sounds as she attempted to go unnoticed.Let me explain something about Laura, Laura is homeless, she’s 17, has dark brown hair, blue eyes, and no job. All her clothes came out of garbage cans or donation bins, and she only eat when the hunger was so unbearable she had to steal…this was one of those nights.

Laura scuffed as she looked around, there weren’t enough people walking the streets for her to go unnoticed. She’d have to wait and try again tomorrow, hopefully she would be able to get some food then…or a job, that would be nice. A steady inflow of cash and food. But no one wants to hire the homeless girl with clothes too big and arms too weak.

Laura turned and headed down the familiar path that led to her little spot under the bridge, consisting of a large refrigerator box, a blanket that was nearing the condition of unusable…even for her, and her small stack of oversized clothes.

“Come on, Laura,” She mumbled to herself as she sat down with her back against the huge column that held up the bridge, her eyes getting droopy as she spoke, “Tomorrow’s gonna be better.”

"Louis, stop messing with that. Niall-- no, you can't eat that, stop. Zayn and Harry, stop hogging the mirror!" Liam fell back onto the couch and ran his hands through his hair. Daddy Direction was right. Sure, he joined in on the madness from time to time, but, when Paul wasn't around, he took on this familiar role.

Harry scoffed, “My goodness Liam, you need a girlfriend or a hobby or something.”

Zayn nodded in agreement.

"Say the guys who don't have girlfriends either.”

Harry rolled his eyes, “Go do something productive besides worry about us, the show doesn’t start for another four hours so you’ll have plenty of time to come back and make sure we’re all perfect before the concert.”

Liam stood and made his way to the door, grabbing his hoodie and slipping it on, "I'm going for a walk.”

“Fantastic,” Niall mumbled, “Now I can finally eat my oreo’s in peace.”

Liam rolled his eyes and smiled as he closed the door behind him. He walked down by the old bridge, looking around at the water.

Laura sighed in her sleep as she leaned against the wall, her arms wrapped around her knees as she tried to keep warm, she was too tired to climb in her box…

Liam walked along the side, looking under the bridge, his eyes landing on the girl. "What in the world? Hello?”

Laura stirred slightly but quickly curled up tighter and went back to sleep.

He came closer and lightly tapped her shoulder, "Excuse me…"

Laura’s eyes barely opened, “Hmm?”

"Do you live here?" He asked as he examined her face. Despite the fact that she was dirty and could use a shower, she was absolutely beautiful.

“Mhm,” Laura softly mumbled before falling asleep again.

After much debating, Liam made up his mind. Twenty minutes later, he arrived back at the  dressing room and walked in, carrying the girl and the few things she had in his arms.

Harry looked up at Liam and his eyes widened, “When I said you need a girlfriend I didn’t mean to kidnap someone.”

"I didn't kidnap her, I found her." Liam laid her down on the couch, "that didn't sound any better. I found her under a bridge. She said she lived there.”
