Pick or Choose

Simeon, Aldwin, Hadden, Jerod, Neil.

Five names on a list.

One with a red X.

One life changing choice.

"She could pick none." Rumplestiltskin offered.

"Yes she could and she might. Unfortunately, you can't hold on to Winy forever Rumple. She's growing up, and she will leave."

Rumplestiltskin shot up from his desk. A grin spread across is face. "I've got it! I'll choose for her! That way she can't choose wrong."

"What will you choose?" Belle asked from her seat across the desk from him.

"None!" Belle sighed and let her head and arms fall to the desk. "What?"

Belle picked up her head and looked at him. "You can't do that Rumple."

Winy woke up with a smile of her face, because she was woken up by the sound of magic. She jumped out of bed and ran over to the desk on the other side of her room. Two scrolls tied with red ribbon sat there. Each with a little tag labeled one and two.

She reached for the one labeled one and opened in.

This must be your choice dear. We hope you will choose the right one. We trust you will.

She smiled, a little sad. She knew she could choose to stay her the Dark Castle if she wished. It was truly her choice. She sighed and reached for the second one.

Simeon, Aldwin, Hadden, Jerod.

Her lip quivered knowing King David had felt she was 'dangerous'. Maybe she was. She sat the note back on her desk and sat down on the floor with her legs crossed. She leaned back and laid on the floor.

She still had four proposals to choose from! All handsome, kind, rich, powerful, kind young men.

That night at dinner time Winy burst dinning hall. "I have made my choice!"

Rumplestiltskin had been spinning but had stood to face her faster the her eyes could comprehend. Belle had dropped one of the glasses and it had shattered.

"Oh." Belle had startled herself as the glass shattered around her feet. Rumplestiltskin magiced himself to her side and the glass had disappeared.

"Are you cut?" He squatted at her feet to check for cuts, since she was bare footed at normal.

"No. I'm fine." Belle walked around him and over to her daughter. "What is your choice?"

Rumplestiltskin had appeared behind her mother. Winy looked to her father and he nodded for her to continue.

Rumplestiltskin paced back and forth in front of the main door to the Dark Castle. Belle rested her hand one her shoulder and spun around. "You frightened me Belle."

Belle was worried. It wasn't easy to sneak up on her husband. He practically had eyes in the back of his head. "Are you okay?"

"Yes. Of course."

Belle put her hands on her hips, and cocked them to one side, "Don't lie to me Rumplestiltskin. I know you."

Rumple sighed, "I trust Winy's decision. It's only, I'm still a bit worried I suppose."

"She will be okay Rumple. She's a big girl." Belle reassured him, placing her hand on his face. He leaned into her touch wear he used to flinch away. He had come a long way.

Winy watched as the carriage pulled into the drive to their castle. The ran out of her room and picked up her dress as she hurried down the stairs.
