Dear Diary,
How naive I have been! I found cameras in the ruins, German cameras. They are just monitoring us!! They have not populated this city because they know we are here. My worry must show on my face, because my kids have been asking all morning. I am so scared for my young ones. They deserve more than a war and desolation, starvation and poverty. But I know that I cannot do anything for them. They must make this journey on themselves, I have a feeling.
As a new parent, in a beautiful free country, I had dreamed of the best for my children. I had expected a future where my babies wouldn't have to live everyday in fear of the Germans. Now, I only see how naive I was. Today, we must travel. I am making this decision impromptu. It is the only way we can escape the viewing of the nasty Germs. Hopefully we can find survivors and others like us.
I hope that I will be able to return to this bound leather cookbook. If I do not... well you know what happened to me.
