But that certainty was slowly fading. We had been walking for miles now and it had been two days since we last saw anyone from the pack. Bumblebee was getting weaker from lack of food, as was I.
Bumblebee was sticking close to me, mainly because the part of the forest we were in was dense, dark and gloomy. Even I had seemed to shrink that little bit.
"Phantom?" Bumblebee caught my attention, "when will we see the others?" His blue eyes were scared and dull.
"Soon," I answered, "I hope," I mumbled the last part. Bumblebee looked back down. I looked at him, "don't worry, Bee, we'll find them."
A low growl interrupted us. We stiffened and looked around. "Quick Bee, over there," I whispered. We both silently ran over to some bushes, just being able to see through the leaves. We could see a black, dark purple and gold female dragon with two pairs of wings, which she used to walk on as well as her other legs. She was devouring a deer carcass.
Both Bumblebee and I knew that we needed food and that this could be our only chance to get some, so we waited. Eventually, the dragon walked away, leaving a small amount of meat on the bones. We crawled up to the carcass. Both of us digging into the meat, taking much of it off the bones.
We were almost finished when I felt needles in my shoulders. I roared in pain as the needles in my shoulders went deeper in, and a burning sensation was going through my wounds. I looked around seeing the same dragon from before lifting me off the ground.
"BUMBLEBEE! RUN!" I screamed as the dragon threw me into a nearby tree. I roared in pain, but that was soon driven away when I saw the terrified look on his face. "GO BEE!"
"Oh that won't happen," the dragon said, her voice sinster and dangerous, "not when you can't get away, not from me." She placed a taloned foot down on Bumblebee, to which he yelped in shock.
"Leave..h-him...a-alone," I growled, but then pain went through my shoulders, making me wince and look at the wounds.
"You are in no condition to tell me what to do," she growled, looking directly at me. Bumblebee took his chance and bit the dragon on the leg -who yelped and pulled her leg away- and bolted for me.
"You runt!" She stepped closer to us, "you'll pay for that!"
"Leave us alone!" Bumblebee growled, taking a step over me to protect me.
"What are you going to do?" She grinned, "you saw what I did to your friend."
"Only because you ambushed them, Airacnid," a new voice said. We all looked towards the bushes behind me to see a blue non-flying dragoness, with pink details and blue eyes with a purple rim around them. As she stalked in I saw she was an adult, but was not much taller than myself.
"Arcee," the black dragon spat like it was poison. Airacnid took a step towards the new dragon on the scene, "how...nice it is to see you," she snarled, "why are you in my territory?"
"We share the same territory, Sister," Arcee replied, spitting out the word 'sister', "it was handed down to both of us, don't you remember, Airacnid."
Airacnid snarled in response.
"Now," Arcee began, "leave these teens alone," she took a threatening step forward. In response, Airacnid walked away without another word.
Arcee snarled in Airacnid's way. All of a sudden I screamed in pain, it felt like fire was running through my veins, burning it away. Arcee looked towards us, eyes widening at the sight of my wounds before running over to us. I tried to move, but screamed even more.
"She's been poisoned!" Arcee said after looking over my wounds.
"Poisoned?" Bumblebee questioned, concern laced his voice, unsure of what to do.
Arcee nodded in response, "we have to get her to the river." She grabbed me by the scruff of the neck and started to drag me. But Bumblebee stood where he was in shock. Arcee let me go, "come on, kid, we have to get to the river to stop the vemon."
Bumblebee quickly followed as Arcee dragged me towards the river. Seconds later I felt the rush of cold water surround my body. I hissed in pain as the water hit my wound, but fortnately the burning sensation began to dissipate. I slumped down that little bit, realising how exhausted I really was.
"You're one lucky kid," Arcee said to me, "What's your name?"
"Phantom," I answered, "and this is Bumblebee."
"Arcee. It's nice to meet you," she said.
"Likewise," I said, "and thank you for saving us."
"You have to watch your back in these parts," she said while lying down herself in the water, "by-the-way, where are you kids from?"
I looked in the direction of the cliffs, "Iacon Cliff," I answered.
"Wow, you're along way from home. What happened?" Arcee asked, tilting her head to the side.
"We were driven out. By Decepticons," Bumblebee replied, looking down.
"What happened to your pack?" The blue dragon asked.
"We don't exactly know, we know the other sub-adults got away, but everyone else..." I stopped myself, looking down.
"You miss them? Don't you?" Arcee's voice softened as she tried to meet our eyes.
We both nodded.
She shook her head -even though she was sympathic- deciding about the next move. Putting her head down, she said to herself, "Uh, I'm going to regret this later on," then she looked up at us, moving her head in a way that says 'follow', "come on, let's get out of this river and get some rest. Then tomorrow, we'll look for your pack."
Both Bumblebee and I looked at each other, eyes widened in disbelief, but we followed her out of the river and laid down in a small clearing next to the river.
"Who is your pack leader?" Arcee asked.
"He's name is Optimus Prime," I answered.
"Optimus Prime," she repeated, seeming shocked, "you two live under a great leader."
"He is very wise and treats everyone equally," I said.
"He's like a Sire to me," Bumblebee said, but looked down.
"'Like'?" Arcee questioned, tilting her head.
"I was found at a young age by him," Bumblebee eplained, "he took me under his wing."
"And what about you?" She asked, turning to me, "were you born in the pack or found by the pack?"
"Found," I answered, "I was found in a bend in this very river by Optimus. But it was an old friend of Optimus who took me under his wing. But I can't remember my real creators, or where I actually came from. I only remembered my name."
"You kids have already been through a lot," Arcee said, "now I suggest we get some rest before tomorrow."
I nodded and placed my head in my front legs, before falling into a restless sleep.
