The way we used to be

The scent of coffee lingered in the air,

The sound of laughter and gossip echoed everywhere.

The sun shone through the windows covering everything with a warm golden glow,

As a mid-summers breeze drifted through the open doors.

I sit here alone admiring my surroundings,

As I reminisce on the past to think of all the memories we once shared.

We used to be so close, sitting here together in a world of our own,

No different to these others it was a place unknown.

Face to face we would be, I could have never been happier with any other,

The life I once had has moved on without me.

Stuck in place it takes the lead in this race and forgotten about me,

Leaving me behind, frozen in time the world carries on as if I never existed.

So what am I to do now? Other than to watch from the side lines,

How can I live a life when my life means nothing without you?
