it's days like these
often
i avoid posting anywhere, even talking to people
i don't want any of the fortunate to feel less because of me
so i'm just gonna talk about this show, despite not being good at "reviewing"

i spent the past Multiple hours watching (totally not bootlegs) Hedwig and the Angry Inch three (3) times.
i do not know why i love it so much.
because there isn't a real "ending" or anything.
so the basical plot of the show is that it's set up like a rock concert, for Hedwig. it is 100 minutes, and there is no intermission, to keep the concert feeling. inbetween songs, she tells stories of her life. it sounds really vague, but it is a nice, unusual story, and yet one that feels relatable.
the songs are really nice, rock and roll.
there are two songs that seem to be the favored ones, and you can tell because they sound beautiful and the lyrics are Nice, the origin of love and midnight radio.
i basically only watched this show in the first place because i heard a video of andrew rannells singing midnight radio.
i thought: nice song + andrew rannells in drag = what appears to be a good time
the story is the same to my favorite tv show in the way that it starts as a boppin-time with a funny character, and then by the end youre crying because it's so beautiful and you didn't even realize you were being sucked in you were having so much fun.
through the whole show Hedwig talks about her life, some even distressing parts, in an almost lighthearted fashion, with plenty of jokes. but there is one part where she suddenly becomes serious, and you can see hos serious everything she told us really is, and how much it affects her.
after a short cry while her husband sings (we find out some things about him), she tries to bounce back, but now the show has adopted a more somber mood.
i don't really want to spoil the end of course, but when she takes center stage again, she is stripped down, almost as if this show has been some kind of therapy for her, and she sings one last song, which is such a gorgeous song, the music, the lyrics, I love it.
once it's over, there was no real "closure". in some ways it could be argued that there was, but just my thoughts. keeping its concert setting, the show ends, and it feels almost as though life still goes on for hedwig, and neither you nor she knows what the future holds, almost who she is any more.
this show does a wonderful job of pulling you in and feeling real. the story is very odd, but also feels too realistic.

i'm just rambling, kind of this whole time really, i just am really emotional and i love this and i had to talk about it.

would recommend, leaves you feeling strong but also vulnerable, but almost like your strength comes from that vulnerability. you don't feel sad or confident or whatever, you just kind of feel, human i guess. you have hope, and hedwig honestly feels like a friend that you can just approach and have a deep conversation with.
if you'd like to watch it, you can just search HATAI on youtube, and take your pick. i like JCM (the media in this) as more comedic. (sorry andrew rannells i still love you) though andrew rannells midnight radio is my favorite, i recommend watching that at least if you don't have time to or just don't want to watch the whole show (i won't judge you) -
