Kc carried the soda's and I carried the pizza's with Beast still walking obediently in between us this time really wanting his slice of pizza that he knew was coming as soon as I let him in the house, for being a good boy, but then again I was always giving him a taste of whatever I would be munching on throughout the day. But when I made it to the sidewalk and opened the gate into the yard I noticed a stray dog running around in the backyard. I handed Kc the pizza and asked her to wait outside the gate with Beast because the stray was just a puppy that managed to get thru the fence, and I didn't want Beast hurting the little guy. But what I thought was going to be an easy catch was quite difficult, because he was scared to death. After a half an hour of carefully chasing him around the backyard, I finally caught him when he got stuck in the fence trying to escape from me.

I held onto him securely and gently rubbed on his head and talked softly to him until he calmed down, then I told Kc it was alright for her to let Beast in now, as I headed to the door to unlock it. I opened the door, and grabbed the pizza's from her again and sat them on the table, then I gave Beast his slice and he took off with it into the bedroom under the bed to eat it in silence. I carried the puppy into the kitchen and turned on the lights so I could take a good look at him to see if he was hurt anywhere from the fence, or if he had any kind of ID or tags on him. But when I noticed all the ticks embedded in his skin and how filthy he was I knew he was a stray. Kc sat the drinks on the counter and came up beside me and asked what I was going to do with him. I smiled at her as I handed him to her and said we were going to give him a bath and sit on the stool and start pulling out all the ticks on him, then after we finished eating we were going to take the little guy to the vet, so they can give him a complete checkup to see if he was healthy, then if they said he was alright to keep around, I told her I would give him to her.

Kc smiled up at me as she held her arms out for the little guy as I made up the bath water. After his bath, he was a ball of energy, but we both held him down as we began to dig out the ticks that were lodged deep in his skin, and some of them even went almost under his skin...Kc got emotional every time he hollered because it hurt him, but I just rubbed her hand and told her they needed to be pulled out, or they would make him more lethargic than he was already. So after another hour of deticking, I decided it was time to let the little guy have a break from the pulling on him while Kc and I got washed up to eat our pizza. After our meal was done I gave the vet clinic a call and asked them if they had an opening to take a look at a stray puppy I acquired. But as I already knew they said to bring him on in and they would check him over for me, so I grabbed my keys and Kc with the puppy and hauled ass over there to hopefully find out no bad news about the lil guy, because Kc was already very attached to him...and as much as I hated to admit it...so was I.

As soon as we walked in the clinic, one of the vets ran up to us both and said what a cute Bull Terrier puppy!! Then she asked if she could hold him...I looked over at Kc and said at least know we knew what breed of puppy we had. Kc slowly handed him to the vet and as soon as she looked at him real good, she said the poor little guy wasn't even weaned yet...then she asked where its mother was and the rest of the litter. I told her he was a stray that wandered into my backyard. She told us both to follow her into one of the rooms, then she grabbed a bottle and quickly made some milk replacer and got him to drink it, then she began with the testings. She gave him all the first puppy shots, then gave him deworming medicine. She gave him a few loving rubs then handed him to Kc and said he was still too young for tick and flea medication, but as soon as he reached 8 or 9 weeks of age then we could bring him back and she could apply it for us.

After she took some blood from him to get it tested she said the results wouldn't be ready for at least 24 hours so it was ok to take the lil guy back to the house with us and she would give us a call when she got the results back. I thanked her as we followed her out to the front desk and paid for everything she did so far for him. Then we both got back into the car and headed back to the house. During the entire ride back to the house Kc and I were thinking about names for him...but for some reason, nothing really came to mind for him. But it was still fun listening to all of her silly ideas of names...but I tried to tell her the last thing I would want to be hollering in the middle of the night was the name Dickie for the neighborhood to hear me say. So after her thinking about it for a moment, she asked what I thought about Bullet or Scraps.
