"Isn't he gorgeous, Cass?" Vanessa asked as she dreamily leaned against the lockers as Cassie unloaded her books into her neighboring locker.
Vanessa had always been into the guys at school, and flirted with them as much as she could. Cassandra, on the other hand, preferred to stay quiet and be in the background of things. But as they say, opposites attract, and the two girls were always together, like a wolf and the moon.
"Who, Nessa?" She hummed as she popped a stick of gum in her mouth and handed one to her friend.
Nessa waved it away, "You know I hate mint, right?" She looked over to the same direction again and swooned, "the new guy!" She slammed my locker door closed, slamming my hand in.
"Shit!" I yelled as I grabbed my hand and cradled it close to my chest. "Yeah you've got my attention, V."
"Dammit, sorry!" She pointed to the doors to the entrance of the school, "That guy!"
Cass followed Vanessa's gaze to see the new jockey. He was definitely good looking, with brushed over dirty blonde hair, dark, thick eyebrows, a beaming smile that you could see light years away, piercing blue eyes, and freckles that snowflaked his face. He was tall and lean, and was talking to the principal, most likely for setting up his classes.
"Cool, now if you'd excuse me, I have to go to the Nurse's office," Cass said as her friend apologized again.
Nurse Amy's office was next door to the principal's office, so Cass managed to take a peak at this "new hot" guy who was standing in between the two doors. Yeah he was pretty good looking, he looked confident for his first day, and probably ready to try out for lacrosse. He was muttering his classes under his breath, probably to memorize them, Cass could maybe catch his attention by asking if he needed help finding a class, but that was something Vanessa would do, not Cass... but then she realized she was too late, the guy had already taken a step forward and was going to ask her the questions.
"Hey, do you know where Mr. Smith's class is located?" He spoke crisply, as if it was a fresh start.
"Yeah," she pointed towards the far right, "you're gonna want to walk past the first set of lockers, and it's the first room on the right." Her hand was beginning to numb the pain.
He grinned, "Thanks, I'm Jay."
"Cass," I held out my non injured hand out to shake, which he took. "Do you have Mr. Smith for AP Physics?"
"Yeah, you?" He smirked.
"Yeah, he's pretty cool, we will have a lot labs and pop quizzes," Cass answered as she felt immediately more comfortable around this guy.
"Nice, got any more tips?" He joked.
"In fact, I do, don't sit in the front, because Smith has a lisp, he tends to spit when he says something starting in 'f', but this class is physics, so he'll be spitting quite a bit."
Jay chuckled, "Thanks, Cass, I'll look out for that," he smiled.
"No problem, see ya" She smiled, as she walked back to Nessa, who was standing in awe.
"What the actual fuck was that?" She asked as she grabbed Cassie's arms. "Dude, That was freaking amazing! He was totally into you."
Cass rolled her eyes, "He asked me where his classes were, that's it."
"But that's a step up! You should talk to him more often, you're perfect for him!" V said so excitedly, "what's his name?"
"Jay, and no we aren't perfect for each other, what would make you think that?"
"Jay... so dreamy," she cleared her throat, "because, you're the only girl lacrosse player on a guy's team, and by the looks of his muscles, he is too. And he's in AP physics, so he's smart, like you!"
"Well..." Cass paused, "how did you know that he was in Physics with me?"
"I hacked into your phone, so I can hear the majority of what you hear, and I do say, my dear, that you have a really gross taste in music... who listens to Pink Floyd and James Blunt?" Vanessa was the queen of hacking and coding, if you ever needed to change your grades because you failed a test, pay her $100 and she'll change it to an A with absolutely no traces whatsoever.
"Quite a lot of people listen to both artists, you just listen to all of the top hits." Cass said as she walked to the door of her classroom.
"All true, true. Well, I gotta live through Mrs. Harry's lecture on how to write a freaking sentence," Nessa said as she rolled her eyes.
Cass chuckled, "Good luck."
