19 December 2014.

"Normani, you're late. Again." Thr blonde stresses.

"Sorry Alz. Traffic was hectic." Normani shrugs as she puts her purse down under the counter.

"Traffic?" Ally looks at Normani as if she's suddenly grown another head. "Traffic?" She repeats. "Normani, you live across the road."

"Yeah, well there were many cars in the street." Normani shrugs again before hanging her jacket up. "Sue me."

"I would fire you, but I need you." Ally admits.

"Wow, boss, that warms my heart." Normani clutches at her chest before putting the coffee machine on. "Getting fired from a non-real job. Wow. That's a first for me."

"You're annoying." Ally rolls her eyes before pushing Normani aside, making two cups of coffee. "We literally have three more days left of this. I'm just asking that for the next three you come in on time? You know how breakfast rush is, I can't manage everything on my own."

"I'll try my best." Normani promises through a sigh. "And I'm sorry for being late. I overslept."

"I thought as much." Ally mumbles as she hands Normani her fresh coffee. "So what were you doing that you overslept?"

"Talking on the phone. You know how crazy timezones are."

"You miss him, don't you?" Ally asks with a sad smile.

"Yeah. Always. He's always in my heart Alz." Normani smiles herself before sighing as she sees a customer walk through the door. "How may I help you?"

Ally watches as Normani attentively listens to the customer before getting their goods, and then receiving a huge tip on top of that. Normani had a beautiful personality. That was why she was good for her impromptu business venture, and her best friend.

Ally thinks back to when she first met Normani. She walked into her bakery. Scared, lost. It was her first day on the job and she had been sent for pastry run. Ally had seen how flustered the girl was, so she offered out of kindness to help carry back the pastries to the office. Normani was extremely grateful and promised that she would always buy baked goods there, and she stuck to her word. Every day after her first pastry run, Normani came into the bakery everyday at lunch to get something different. One day Ally decided to sit down with her, and talk, and that's when she learned that not only did Normani have a beautiful personality, she was new in town and had struggles of her own. She also really needed to talk that day.

Ever since then, Normani and Ally had supported each other through everything. Ally knew that Normani was a bit lazy, but she was shocked when Normani agreed to help her with her new business venture. It was lazily constructed, but that's where Normani came in. She had the skill to make the business what it was, and it came to life four short days later. Normani was gifted.

Ally was even more shocked when Normani volunteered to work for her for free. Then again, she had the whole December off and nothing to do, no body to spend it with, so it was fitting that she found something to keep busy.

Ally studied the side of Normani's head as she thought of the surprise that she had for Normani. She was excited. She jumped a little when Normani turned, looked her in the eye, and asked her "What?"

"Nothing." Ally looks around quickly, a smirk growing on her face as she spots someone at the door. "Your girlfriend is here."

"She's not my girlfriend." Normani groans after following Ally's eyes.

"Yeah, good luck." Ally pats Normani on the back. "I'll be packaging the rest of the biscuits."

Normani watches as Ally leaves her alone, a glare painted over her face. Ally knew that she disliked this girl, why did she keep leaving her alone with her? She then turns to the woman who is confidently strutting towards the counter, her curls bouncing against her back as she watches Normani with that terrorising smirk.
