"Happy Birthday" Dan opened his eyes and saw his flatmate, Phil, standing over his bed. He was holding a tray in his left hand shakily. On it was a full english breakfast. Dan sat up and yawned, not caring if he was lying in his bed nearly naked. If he was with anyone else, he would have flinched. But recently, his feelings for Phil had become stronger. H e could even say he cloved him. However, Dan was also best friends with Phil. He didn't want to offend him by showing his feelings now.
"Aww Phil" Dan smiled and pulled the duvet up "you didn't have to. you could of hurt yourself"
Phil shrugged and put the tray on the bed
"I still feel bad about you missing out on Vegas. I think you should have gone without me"
Dan looked down at Phil's broken arm and sprained ankle. They were going to Las vegas for Dan's 21st. But Phil was involved in a car crash and Dan refused to go without him.If anything he was glad it was just them together.
"No man, it's okay. We can still make it special" Dan said
Phil sighed loudly. Dan picked up the tray and patted the bed for Phil to sit down. phil hobbled over and tried to sit down alone. leaning over, Dan tried to help but Phil knocked him away and slipped as he did. Dan's heart skipped a beat as he jumped up to stop him falling. Tightly, he grabbed Phil's cheast to suport him, not once looking at his face. But when he did. it was as if time stood still. dan immediatly got lost in Phil's eyes. They were as deep and as blue as any ocean. Yet they were so calm and relaxed , Dan didn't want to look away. Phil's eyes were Dan's favorie feature. Even with his glasses on, Phil's eyes stood out so much to Dan. suddenly, Phil blinked and Dan was pulled back into real time, where he noticed he was only wearing his boxers. Even though Dan disdn't mind Phil seeing him with out clothes on, he was overcome by self concessness. Both boys blushed and looked away, not wanting to say anything. Dan carefully placed Phil among the cusions on his bed. then he dived away towards a pile of clothes on the floor and quickly got dresses. He turned back around to see Phil holding out a card. He was much calmer than Dan expected. He just smiled
"I was going to give this to you last" he said "But I think I can give it to you now"
Dan felt his heart pump out his cheast and pulled a confused face. He lay on the bed and took the card. ripping the envolope off, he saw a llama card as expected. But inside there was a neatly writtain paragraph. Dan began to read.
Dan,
I'm so sorry you missed out on vegas. I know how much you wanted to go and I feel awful. The thing is that, I've been hoping for a incident that would mean we could spend your birthday alone. There is a reason for that
I know that we have been best friends for a while, but recently my feelings have changed. This might sound odd to you, especially as I have never admitted to being gay. But maybe people are right. Everyday, when I see you, my day is made so much better.When you are not there I hve missed you so badly.I know that you probebly don't feel the same, and I promise we will always be friends. But Daniel Howell, I love you and I can't hide it any more.

Dan and phil looked into each others eyes and in that moment realized that their fans were righ all along. They paused, and then kissed. Not long, not passionate, but enough to show exactly how they felt. This would always been Dan,s favorite present. Phil
