The next day as I stared at the clouds I discovered only recently that the universe didn't hate me. My life's had lots of downs...I mean lots of down, but now it's going up. Not very fast or steep, but slow, slow and steady.
As I sat in the grass and wondered Shawn came by and sat right next to
me." I still don't understand why you try to be my friend" I said. " I like unique people and I think your unique." said Shawn. As I sat there flattered I pretended to hate him while secretly envying his courage.
We talked for hours, good things, bad things, deepest secrets." when I was in kindergarten the teacher yelled at me so I gave her a dead frog" said Shawn. " Thats awful what did she do", I said through breaks in my laugh. "She screamed", he said. A few hours later we ate frozen mac and cheese and watched movies on my couch. I turned to him and said" I'm going to miss you when we go to college". He smiled and said,"You won't have to", I'm going to Miami too!! At that very moment of time and space everything was perfect. He smiled and looked at me with his beautiful eyes. "You are beautiful and unique", he said," and I love that". His hand brushed my face as he leaned in to kiss me. His lips were soft and his presence calming. " He leaned towards me and asked me a question,"will you be my girlfriend"? I replied with,"I thought you'd never ask". As that friendship ended and bloomed with new passions college was two weeks away and I savored every last minute. Shawn and I hung out everyday. We watched the classics, pitch perfect and the breakfast club and got so sick of Mac and cheese we had to actually cook.
