Yoongi POV

The two of them stayed out later than originally planned. Yoongi drove out to the edge of the city up on the hill overlooking its lights and parked the car, where they could sit atop the car's roof, gaze down at the busy life below them, gaze up at the stars above, and gaze at each other. They couldn't afford to go home now. Honestly, with their pulses that refused to return to normal pace with all that had transpired, it would raise more questions to go home in their current state rather than to wait it out, see if they could stabilize themselves, and come back home later than expected.

Yoongi justified it this way, anyway. In truth his main reason was because he did not want to be away from Y/N. He spent too long not touching her and now that was all he wanted to do.

His lips were nestled in the crook of her jaw when she first spoke after a long period of silence since their first kiss.

"What are we going to tell everyone?"

He drew away just far enough to look into her eyes. They were deep, worried, invigorated. He'd never seen eyes so alight and so transparent. He could see right into her, he felt. He raised a hand to caress her temple, to smooth out the worry lines there. "I don't know. For now, I think it's in our best interest if we keep this a secret. Seokjin is not pleased. Neither is your mother. They both have their reasons. It... pains me that I have gone against their wishes."

"It all seems so unfair, though," she said, eyes sad. "I don't understand why it matters so much to them."

He wanted to explain to her. It just... didn't feel like the right time. And it wasn't his explanation to give. If he couldn't follow Seokjin's orders to stay away from her, then the least Yoongi could do was do him this favor. Yoongi would wait. It pained him to keep her in the dark, but he wasn't sure what else to do. "I know. I know it's hard. I wish I could feel free the way you wish to be as well. It's a complicated situation."

She frowned. "There's something you're not telling me. You know why they don't approve. Why won't you tell me?"

He looked away for a moment, ashamed. He took her hands in his and sighed. "I... I can't. It's not my place."

"But I have a right to know! No one will give me a proper reason as to why we can't be together. All of it seems like bullshit right now. I don't understand—"

"Y/N." Yoongi looked at her sternly. She quieted, still irritated but patient. "Please. It's enough that I'm going against Seokjin and your mother in this way. I cannot go further. Just trust me. Please."

Yoongi didn't often beg. It wasn't his nature. But he would never demand anything of Y/N. He could only beg in these circumstances, beg her to be compliant when she had no reason to be. He knew it was asking a lot. Sacrificing his pride was worth keeping her on his side.

Her face softened, and she caressed the side of his face. "How will I know things will be okay?" Her eyes pleaded with him, needing his answer.

"I... I can't promise they will be," he said sadly. He leaned forward and pressed his forehead to hers. "I consider myself asking nearly too much just being near you now, like this. It's testing the laws of nature. But I'm too selfish to let you go. So I'm grateful for the time I have with you. Are you not?"

Her eyes smoldered. "Of course I am. How could you ever think otherwise?"

"Then can you promise me to be patient? Do this one thing for me. I know it's hardly fair. But please."

She was silent for a long moment, and Yoongi watched as Y/N's eyes burned into his with varying emotions. Finally, she seemed to relent, and she placed her hands on his face and leaned in to kiss him. So gently. Pulling away, she whispered, "Okay."
