(Found this prompt!)

I sat at the bar, nursing my drink while the storm wailed outside. I usually turned to bars like this to get away from the weather and my troubles. The bar tender limped over and pulled up a stool on his side. It was slow business tonight.

"'Ello mccree, business treating you well?" Jamie asked, pouring himself a shot.

"Well, business is business. Hunting monsters ain't like it used to be." I replied, taking another sip. "Hows the husband?"

"Oh mako's doin' alright, got a job down at the butchers!"

I laughed, and Jamie took the shot and sighed. Just then the door opened and wind blew in with the new figure that appeared. A man, hair tied back with a ribbon and interesting clothing that was soaked from the rain. He quietly approached the bar and sat three seats away from me. I wasn't gonna lie he was attractive. He set down a bow and quill neatly beside his chair, and Jamie got up to go tend to him while I stayed in my spot. There was something different about this character though, a weird air aroud him. I took another taste of the beer infront of me, stealing glances at the stranger. He was interesting to look at, how could I resist.

He must have sensed my gaze as he suddenly spoke up.

"Something intriguing to look at over here?" he asked as Jamie set a drink infront of him.

"Nah darlin' just wondering why you weren't shiverin', seein' how your clothes look like you've been out for a long while." I lied.

"Is that the nice way of saying I look like a drowned rat?" he asked, an edge of amusement seeping into his words.

"Basicly."

The man chuckled and took a long sip of his drink. He then got up and walked over and sat one stool away from me.

"No sense in holding a conversion across the bar." he reasoned, pulling his drink up to his lips once more.

"So stranger, new to these parts? Haven't seen you around before." I asked.

"Yes, I am a traveler of sorts," he answered, taking a long sip from his drink.

"Interestin', say partner, where ya from?"

"Japan. No good work over there." the stranger informed.

"Well its nice to meet you. Name's Mccree, Jesse Mccree."

"Hanzo."

"Well Hanzo, may I buy you a drink? You've been awfully polite."

"I suppose."

I signaled over to Jamie and he slid over two drinks. I took mine and he took his, and we both took a sip. Then there was a crashing sound from outside.

It was distant at first, then there was another, closer this time. I slipped my hand up my hip and my fist tightened around my gun. Hanzo looked calm but I could tell he was just as uneasy as I was. He reached down and grabbed his bow, his hand hovering over an arrow from his quiver. The noise came again, just like last time it was louder. I could hear footsteps and shouting, and then suddenly a crash that sounded like it was just outside.

Then silence before the storm.

A huge serpent like monstrosity burst through the front of the bar, its many legs hooking onto the wood up the wall. Hanzo quickly drew his bow and shot the beast in the eye. It screeched in terror, then I jumped up and got my crossbow ready. This thing was too big for a gun at long range. I locked in the bolt and aimed, pulling the trigger. I hit the beast in the other eye as Hanzo prepared another shot. He hit it in the gizzard and the monster fell from the wall on which it had began to climb. It wrived around on the floor and struggled, its arms too small to get the arrow. I ran over and hopped on the creature's exposed chest and delivered the final blow with a gunshot through the bottom jaw up through the mouth, trying not to fall off the damn thing. It stopped struggling with a last kick that sent me flying off. I hit a table and rolled over, landing on the ground. My gun a few feet away. I pulled myself up and rubbed my head with my non mechanical arm.

Hanzo ran over and helped me to stand, and I felt excruciating pain shoot through my legs. I yelped and fell again, not able to hold myself up. I must have landed on them wrong. This job did have its risks. Hanzo lifted me up with surprising strength and set me down on a bar stool. He set my right leg on a stool and rolled up the pant leg to my knee.
"Where does it hurt?" he asked, examining my leg. An intense expression rested in his features and I was distracted.

He waved his hand infront of my face and spoke again.

"Are you in shock Jesse Mccree?" he asked, taking on a reassuring smile.

"No darlin', just distracted. My shin and ankle hurt, I probably sprained or broke 'em." I concluded. Hanzo nodded.

"You want to stay with me while you heal? I am guessing a man such as yourself doesn't have close family or a house?" Hanzo asked.

"Slightly offended by your words samurai, but flattered by the invitation thats-" I winced as I took my leg off the stool, "mighty considerate." I finished.

"But ill be fine." I said, getting off the stool. I immediately fell on my face.

"No you're not cowboy. Come on." Hanzo picked me up again and set some money on the counter. He picked up our weapons and set them in his bag, then headed out the hole in the wall that was once a door. I looked up at his eyes, and for a moment I thought I caught a glimpse of glow in the storm around us. Must've been my imagination playin' tricks. Shock and all that.
