Our story begins in at the ending of another: The end of the Kalos Region. With Ash, Serena, Clemont and Bonnie realising that their journey has come to a close, it dawns on them that they must decide what they plan to do. With Clemont's gym responsibility holding him back from the continuation of his exploration with the gang, he realises that he must return to his duties that he took as being a Gym Leader. Bonnie on the hand has no such ties to hold her back, except her age. With Bonnie being so young, her father only allowed her to travel with the group because of his trust in Clemont to take care of Bonnie. With Clemont no longer going, Bonnie can no longer continue to travel.

Ash took a break from battling after losing in the finals of the Kalos league, not because he felt sorry for himself, it was more that he needed time to reflect on what he was doing wrong and what it would take for him to make that next step, in order to win a league, then challenge the likes of the elite four and the champion. As for Serena, she was in a similar situation to Ash; she made it to the finals, and became within a hair of becoming the Kalos Queen. She took a break, similar to Ash, again.

The group was all staying at Clemonts and Bonnies house, unsure of what they wanted to do next, Ash and Serena both asked if they could stay a week in order to have some time to figure out what's next for their journeys. We catch up with them on December 18th, only a week away until Christmas...

----

It was a calm and cold morning in Lumiose city, the entire city was covered in a soft blanket of snow.

Ash mumbles as he awakes from sleep.

"Is it morning already?" He rubs his eyes with mumbling his words

He looks to his phone and checks the time

"7:00am?? Darn it, why did I have to wake up so early..." He complains to himself

For the next 10 minutes Ash tries to go back to sleep, but has no success in doing so.

"Whatever, I might as well get up." Ash puts his clothes on, not his usual travelling outfit, but more of a casual-comfort look.

He opens the door slowly in order to not wake up Clemont. As there are only three bedrooms in the house, Ash slept with Clemont and Serena slept with Bonnie.

As he successfully closes the door with minimal sound, he gazes out the window to his left to see the Snow peacefully falling down. It was a calming sight for Ash, a sight he learned to appreciate after the thoughts of his future has been giving the young trainer a great deal of stress.

Ash turns his head to head downstairs, but a figure at the other end of the hall catches his eyes. It was Serena, sitting down and gazing outside the window, watching the snow drift down in calming manner.

He walks over to her. Just as he was about to touch her shoulder to get her attention, the floor creaks underneath his last step. It catches Serena off guard and startles her.

"Ash! What are you doing? You scared me there." Serena whispers loudly, careful not to wake the others.

"Sorry, I meant to gently get your attention, but the floor creaked on my last step haha." He says while rubbing the back of his head.

"Oh my gosh" Serena giggles to herself.

"The snow is so pretty, eh?" Ash whispers to her. "Before I found winter to only be a good source of training, with the harsh and slippery conditions making it great for toughing up my team. Now that I'm not training as much, I'm starting to see the beauty in the snow that all of the ice gym leaders have talked about for years."

"Wow Ash, I never thought I'd see the day where you would see something, like snow, other than a means of training." Again laughing to herself.

"You got me there." He chuckles to himself. "Looking back I never really stopped training like this before. Other times after losing out in the leagues, I would immediately start planning out my next journey."

" I could see being like that, but I guess I'm the first one to see you like this then." Serena turns her head to look out the window. "I'm happy it's me who only knows this side of you." Serena quietly says to herself."

"Sorry there, Serena. I was yawning and completely missed the last thing you said."

Serena turns and smiles to Ash. "Oh it's nothing important."

Serena stands up from her spot and yanks Ash to his feet as well.

"Well I don't know about you but I'm starving, last night was a late one because we watched an entire series of movies in one go. I don't expect the others to wake for awhile so how about we go out a get some breakfast?" Serena asks Ash while turning away. Slightly blushing at the thought of what she just asked.

"Sounds like a great idea. I guess this is what people call a breakfast date, right, Serena?" Ash asks her with a smirk on his face.

"Whattttt?!?" Serena almost yelps at what Ash just said to her.

Ash immediately covers her mouth with his hands. "Calm down Serena, it was just a joke. I'm gonna go look up a good place to eat near here, so in the meantime, you should probably go get changed. Pajamas are not what I would normally call winter weather clothing." Ash chuckles to himself, again.

"Yeah, yeah, alright, you better find us a good place or I'll never let you here the end of it! The last time you thought a place was good I got food poisoning."

"Don't worry, last time we were in a small town, in the middle of nowhere. Nothing out there has any online reviews, so how was I supposed to know how good a place is?"

"Anyways, you better not screw it up this time, I'm definitely not in mood to get sick again!"

------

Hey there! Super excited to be back writing! I have been back for awhile, but with life being craaaazy and all that, I haven't exactly had time to think about writing a story, when I barely have time to think about my own life story! Not to mention I had zero time to read anything, thus my inspiration was few and far between. I plan for this to be a long term project, hopefully I can put a chapter out every 1-2 weeks. I'm giving myself so time, because last time I tried to do a couple chapters per week kinda killed me and my creativity. Although this time I randomly found a source of inspiration, so I was like it's now or never!

I just wanted to make this clear, a disclaimer: I don't plan on writing any battles or performances, let alone making Pokemon have a major role in this. After reading a lot of stories, I realised it's hard to do a good job writing those scenes, because then I have to focus on many things at once, which it a lot of work and I'm not sure my writing level is ready to multitask. I will be including the main Pokemon of the trainers, and I could potentially include a battle or performance chapter wayyyy down in the story, but right now I want to work on the main characters and get the story rolling. Considering this first chapter is over 1000 words and we didn't even get to the breakfast portion of it, it's gonna be awhile ;).

(Second disclaimer: I'm writing this at 2:30am, December 24th, please don't mind any mistakes.)

Anyways, toodles for now and I hope you enjoy your journey with Ash and Serena.
