As i turn back i see Penni far behind me. She didn't want to run in the rain. Makes sense.
"COME ON PENNI!!" I yell from the side of my Italian style dwelling.
"Can we wait for the rain to end please?" She asked from afar, the hint of concern in her voice.
I roll my eyes at her request, but walk over to where she was standing.
The rain fell hard on the Earth, our hair dripping wet, clinging onto the school shirts that we were wearing.
The rain looked beautiful falling onto the Italian style neighbourhood.
We watched the passer-bys run under umbrellas, with their family under their arms, rushing across the road. The cars that all all shades of blue and red, drive pass, their headlights on to see though the thick rain, and their windscreen wipers on full to brush to rain from the windscreen to see a bit clearer thought the rain.
The rain thickened and Penni and i knew instantly that i wont stop anytime soon.
We picked ourselves up and turned back behind the first building labeled 6 the house that you would walk behind to get to the river path.
We got our undone cardigans and held them over our heads to keep us a bit dry from the rain. We turned and ran down the path, raining heavily on the path.
Our steps gradually increased in speed as we ran in the rain, watching it fall into the river or onto the clothes that were being tugged in by their owners.
We ran down the path, the moss was growing up the rocks that the small path ran long, cause a small amount of moss and mold on the path. We were carful where we tread.
We were a few house from mine, we were up to the bit where all the moss grew.
One slip, thats all it took.
One slip, was all it was.
Penni flung of to the left, her body falling down the sharp edged rocks, scraping her delicate skin.
Her fell down, it felt like it was in slow motion, the sound of the violent winds and the rushing water flew around in the air, and a sound screeching of us yelling, like that could save her.
Her hair flew up, as though it could save her, and her arms naturally reached out in front of her but it was too late.
But the time her body reached the water, she was already dead.
Her lifeless body hit the water with one big slash, the water flying up.
The golden hair that grew from her head was waving through the water gracefully.
Her mouth filling up with water, it kept rushing in and out of her nose and mouth.
Penni's hands finally came down and she slowly sunk down, to the bottom of the lake.
Her eyes wide open, the jade coloured eyes sinking deeper into the water.
I look down to where she fell. Her body was too deep in the dark water to see it anymore.
I sit there on the edge, still screaming 'PENNI', the sounds of my voice trembling with her name echoed over the water.
My tears fell down off my face and down along the rocks and into the water.
My eyes dwelling my tears. It was hard to hold in.
My best friend just died.
I try to hold my tears in as i walk back home.
