Has this world always been empty? I used to think of how lush and lively it all was, but now, that just seems like a distant dream. I suppose, that's just the natural order of things. Times change and we are left to choose. Either change along, or get left behind. It seems like the world has no place left for beings like you and me. A frightening thought. Very frightening indeed...

Wait a second. Is that... could it be?

A traveler.

What are you doing here little one? the roads are dark and twisted. There is no merit to be found in this place.

"I'm searching for something"

What could there be here for you to find?

"I don't know yet"

How interesting

Whatever is might be, I do sincerely hope you might find it. Forgive me if I'm a bit skeptical though. I'm afraid the world has left to many marks on me so I wouldn't be of any help. But you don't need my help, do you? I can see you already have a loyal companion by your side. I sense he is one of my ilk, but I don't recon I have met him before. How queer...

Well, I'm afraid my time has run out. It was a pleasure. If I may be so bold, allow me to offer you some advice. Or a warning maybe. Keep your treasured ones close. The road is long and filled with obstacles. The nights are cold and weary. Your little lantern might just be bright enough to light the path, but not much else, I'm afraid.

Now be on your way little one. you have a long ways ahead of you. I can tell the clouds will shed their burden tonight, reversing heaven and land. The snow won't wait for anyone. We can only hope it will be merciful. Before you go, as a parting gift, might I know your name?

"Vianna"
