Niex didn't know what to think after waking up in a black space with multicolored orbs twinkling around him. His mind was fuzzy, and he couldn't recall anything anything. He didn't know how much time passed before he shook off his disorientation.His eyes sharpened as he recalled his past. He grew up in an unwanted household, as a child out of wedlock. His mother was a world famous actress who had slept with a second generation young master. She had hated him, saying he ruined her career by being conceived during the height of her fame.
A life sucking parasite, she cursed when she found out that an abortion would permanently ruin her child bearing functions. As such, she had given birth to him secretly. After, she never had any contact with him.
He didn't know anything about his father, other his name and status. At his earlier years, he had wished that his father would magically come and appear and save him from this hell, but it had never happened. With that, he had lost any love he had never had. He grew up in the corner of a luxurious penthouse with only an uncaring nanny. His mother, if she could be called that, did everything to hide his existence. He was never allowed out of the house, and he wasn't sent to school. As it was, every time they saw each other, she would glare so ferociously that it twisted her features into one akin to a demons.
And so, his childhood was one of loneliness in a empty white room with no windows. His nanny hadn't even taken care of him. She had just let him do as he did, fed him unidentified slop, and napped in the extra room. It had warped his mindset, and he became extra sensitive to feelings in the air. Negative emotions were the most obvious, however.
With no entertainment, he had resorted to learning from books and magazines thrown around the house. With nothing else to do, he had observed the features of the models, and pointed out every flaw. At a certain point he had asked the nanny for books. She had huffed, but came back the next day with a pile of thick books. She seemed to have forgotten his age. The topics were random, almost as if they were randomly picked, which they probably were. He would slowly read them, using the thick dictionary he had found in the house. Every week, the nanny would return the books and return with new books.
His life had gone on this way until his mother died on a plane to her next shoot. His nonexistent father wouldn't want him, and such he was forced into an orphanage. By then, he was nine.
He could see the inner darkness of people. He didn't know if it was a hallucination or weird power, but in a form of black haze, he saw lies as they were said. So as he saw the judge say he had no inheritance as his mother didn't acknowledge him, he responded with a bright smile. He wondered how black the haze was around him. To survive, he lied and put on a facade. He played the perfect, studious child who stayed bright despite his hardships.
In school, he stayed the top student with popularity and intelligence, and slowly incorporated himself into showbiz. He found it ironic, that he chose this path, with all the haze surrounding every individual he saw, but he wanted to show his mother that he became what she couldn't achieve.
A small spite, but he wanted her to hurt from everything she had done. After all this, he didn't know how to feel emotion. In essence, he copied what he saw and perfected its technique. He didn't hate his mother, father, or anyone, but he couldn't say he felt anything for them at all. If anything, he chose this career to suit his personality An empty slate in which things were put upon it. His popularity was an unintentional, but welcome, spite to his deceased mother.
In his opinion, the staircase to fame was easier to climb then it was said to be. In less than five years he had sat at the top of the world throne. In an effort to bring him down, his backstory as a child out of wedlock was dug up, but it had an opposite effect then intended. As the child of the much loved, but deceased world famous actress, he was seen as someone descended from the blood of idols.
He stood at the top for seven years after that. Why only seven? He was murdered after that.
Coming home from a shoot, he had died from a stray bullet from a robbery happening near by. As he bled out from the wound, he couldn't say he felt sad or desperate. Rather than that, he couldn't find the will to care. As such, he hadn't called for help.
Now he was here.
[I am System 002. I will be your guide through the worlds.]
What?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm going through multiple fairytale's and filling up a completion gauge for some unknown higher being.
[Yes.]
If I fail, my soul would be obliterated.
[Correct.]
If I 'complete' enough stories I acquire a wish of any choice to be fulfilled.
[That would be your reward]
And these fairytales are all changed in some way, while I can complete them or twist them beyond repair.
[Affirmative. Your only job is to get a 100% completion from the gauge. After each completion you will acquire points in which you can use to buy items from the shop. I will be helping you, but my use is limited. Something to note, you can be assigned to any characters except the two main leads.]
I see......
Neix glanced at all the surrounding orbs.
So I just choose one to enter?
[Yes.]
He sighed mentally, and wondered what other worlds would be like that. They have to be similar to the actual stories, so he had some interest. It was not like he had anything else to do anyway.
[You seem to have less emotion then even me.]
Really? Neix couldn't really be bothered by things like feelings. Observing the orbs, he finally reached out to a watery colored one. It looked like the ocean was contained within it, with tiny pinpricks of shining light gathered on its surface. As he touched the orb, it morphed into a book with a mermaid on its cover. It opened to the first page and light enveloped him before he closed his eyes.
