Everyone assembled by the palace gates in an orderly fashion. For once, the gate levers proved themselves instrumental. The chains sounded mechanically, as they maneuvered the gold plated gates.
The clouds under your toes became chillier outside of the palace. You rushed to where your mother was, carful to not trip over your teal dress.
"Goodbye mother!" You squealed as you hug her into your embrace.
"Take care Yoona," She chuckled as she patted your back, "I'll be back soon."
You smiled and slowly untied your arms around her. Looking into your mother's eyes you regarded how beautiful they were. You felt extremely blessed that you've inherited her hazel brown eyes.
Looking at you mother, her lean figure remained unchanged. Of course, even as queen she isn't exempt from aging. Time is merciless regardless of your race, but angels don't physically age. We all die looking young I guess you could say.
The queen stepped into the royal carriage with the assistance of the royal guards. You watched carefully as the carriage left the palace and disappeared into the clouds.
The crowed slowly cleared out, leaving only the royal guards and yourself. You let out a long breath and went back inside the palace. After a couple of clueless steps, your feet came to a halt.
You looked up and while expecting to be in the comforts of your own room, you found yourself inside of the throne room. Come to think of it, you've never really stepped foot into the throne room. You were only ever here if there were specials occasions that made it necessary.
Curiously, you galleried the place, slowly ghosting your fingers over the velvet fabric draped from the ceiling to the floor. You made an unwary step and slipped on the fabric. The hand that was ghosting over the fabric, was now pressing firmly against the stone wall. You flinched back a couple of steps when the sound of sliding stone reached your ears.
Your heart was pounding a little faster than normal, and adrenaline secreted through your vessels. With your hand slightly trembling, you moved the velvet fabric to one side, lifting it just enough to reveal the secret passage under it.
Any smart angel would probably stay away, but your kept moving forward. The deeper you were in the tunnel, the darker it became. It was cold and humid. Droplets of water could be heard every few seconds.
Yoona's pov
My steps halted when I found myself in a dark chills worthy room. It was cold to the bones. I pulled my cloak tighter to keep myself from becoming an icy work of Medusa.
My vision was helpless through the lack of radiance, but I managed to spot out a thin outline of a shadow. I shaped my eyes in all possible ways and tried to adjust my focus but no luck.
"Runaway while you can, Princess." the disembodied voice was cold and sultry.
I bit down on my lips as I fell back a step. The wet and sticky ground was much more prominent now that I was more concerned of my every move.
"Wh...who are y...you..?" I stuttered trying to keep my calm but it was useless.
"A Demon. By the Devil's law."
