CHAPTER 3
Rozalynne Morgan sat in the back of her favorite restaurant enjoying lunch. Shades covered her face, a pen was in her right hand, and her laptop was opened in front of her.
Usually, she was there alone, without distraction. Today, however, that was about to change. Julian strolled into the diner. He'd been driving around the past two hours trying to clear his head after another argument with Deanna. All he wanted was a hot meal, some coffee, perhaps good conversation, and much needed stress relieving.
He was enthralled when he walked into the restaurant and saw the one woman he hadn't been able to stop thinking about since the little spat he had with her husband.
"Damn, God, you good." Julian couldn't believe the odds. He'd randomly decided to go to that restaurant and get something to eat.
He sat down at a table in front of her. She was the prettiest, sexiest, smartest woman he'd laid eyes on in a long time. She had smooth, caramel skin. He couldn't tell what color eyes she had through the dark tinted shades, but he remembered them being light brown. Her nails were designed perfectly, her eyebrows and lashes were perfect and all hers, her hair was down to her shoulders and flat ironed. He saw how focused and hard at work she seemed, but he was still compelled to get her attention.
"You come here often?" Julian turned and leaned in her direction.
Rozalynne looked up from her laptop and shot him a suspicious look. "I don't talk to strangers." Her tone was calm yet firm.
"Well, damn. Straight to the point." Julian raised his hands, backing off.
Rozalynne looked him up and down. He was stunningly handsome. She was completely smitten by his six-foot-three frame, smooth, mocha skin, almond brown eyes, full lips, and perfect waves. His muscles bulged through his short-sleeved shirt, the tattoos on his arms were nicely visible, and the shirt was snug against his washboard six-pack.
Rozalynne had an urge to look further past his torso, but she fought that with all her might.
She exhaled and shook her head. "Sorry, it's just when men of your caliber approach me, they want something or have a hidden agenda." Her tone softened and she smiled slightly.
Her smile warmed Julian's heart. It lit up the room and the mood. "See, I knew you couldn't be that cold. You have a beautiful smile," Julian complimented, also smiling. "What you mean a guy like me?"
Rozalynne smirked, shooting him a look. "The suave, arrogant, 'I'm God's gift to women' type."
"Oh, so you think you know me, huh?" Julian felt insulted.
"I've dealt with your kind before. I have tons of work to do, so what can I do for you?"
"Nothing, beautiful, I was just hoping... Well, wondering... What it'll take for a guy like me to get a minute of your time?" Julian was laying it on thick.
"Why would I waste my time with you?" Rozalynne was very cautious. Her husband was always snooping around checking up on her. She was determined not to add any more drama to their already chaotic relationship. "Besides, I'm married."
"Happily?" Julian inquired.
"Don't see how that's any of your business," Rozalynne snapped, tilting her shades down enough to give him a side eye.
"I only asked because I don't see a ring on your finger," Julian observed.
Rozalynne looked down at her hand, then back up at him. "Like I said, I don't see how my marriage or the fact that I'm not wearing a ring is any of your business," she reiterated.
